I have a serious dandruff problem. PLEASE HELP!!!
I wash my hair every night alternating between Garnier Fructis and Pantene Pro-V Classically Clean shampoos. Now even 12 hours after I take a shower, I get these damn dry-scalp flakes in my hair. Not only that, parts of my scalp seem to itch and/or burn. I used Neutrogena T-Gel for a couple years, and that didn't seem to do the trick either, which is why I switched to the Garnier. I don't know if I need to see a dermatologist to discuss (among other things my stomache stretch marks and my acne) this dry scalp/dandruff problem.

I'm really starting to look like a mess with the dandruff, stretch marks and acne. Should I start seeing a dermatologist regularly???

1. Have you tried Selsen Blue?
It might help. But you really should see a dermatologist.

5. Nizoral
I've had a chronic dandruff condition for years. Selsun doesn't help it at all, the coal tar stuff like Neutrogena T-Gel and Tegrin (which I used to use regularly but they apparently have stopped manufacturing) worked moderately well, but never got rid of it completely. Then they finally made Nizoral A-D available without a prescription - it works like a miracle. It's a little expensive but you don't even have to use it every day - only like 2-3 times a week works for me.

6. Yeah
I use the coal tar shampoos. I had flakes forever, but now only when I go too long between showers.

7. It could be a sign of something else
I suffer from a form of arthritis called "psoriatic arthritis". One of the symptoms is dandruff, along with scaly skin patches that come and go.

Have a medical doctor (as opposed to a dermatologist) examine you if you think your condition is too extreme. It could reveal things you aren't aware of.

And use Denorex Medicated Shampoo.

10. You sound like you have overly-dry scalp
Too much hair-washing, as others have said here.

I don't know what a dermatologist can do for your stretch marks, but as for you acne, don't let them put you on Accutane - it has some pretty creepy emotional side-effects. Good luck.

11. Selsun Blue
I have had chronic seborrhea for 35 years. Selsun Blue twice/week cured it.

Coal tar shampoos are carcinogenic.

Suave shampoos make my scalp itch.

I used watered-down Dawn dish soap for over 20 years before I discovered Selsun Blue. Dawn works too.
