I want to become trilingual.
Namely, I want to learn Japanese because a.) I want to get into the video games industry, b.) I'm becoming an anime otaku, c.) It is a difficult language and I suppose knowing it might impress the right people, and d.) I can go to Japan. I'll be starting my study in the language in five weeks.

The other language I can learn is French. I took it for two years in high school (I graduated in '02) and have forgotten most of it. However, by attempting to learn the language again I think I can pick it up quick.

Learning another language is enough of a challenge for an adult, but learning two...yikes! Anyone else here attempt to become (at least) trilingual in their adult years and can pass on any words of wisdom to me?

1. How are ya at math? I hear somehow math is involved. I don't know if
it's true or how a language could be based on it. Good luck go for it.

3. Math is a bore
In mathematics classes I'm generally very unmotivated, because like most everyone else, I have the "when am I ever going to use this" attitude going. That doesn't mean I can't learn it though, I just never really did because I didn't want to. The furthest I've made it to is trig.

5. I started to learn Japanese...
but then didn't need it and gave it up.

It's actually a relatively simple language to learn to speak, if not to read. Very few grammatical rules and syntax compared to Engrish. Or French.

6. So I've heard.
But in my wildest dreams I'd like to localize Japanese games for the North American market, which would require reading ability.

Even picking up the kana is easy I hear...it's just the dreaded kanji...
