Last night I found lipstick on my water glass in a restaurant! |
|
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew!
It was a smudge of lipstick at the rim...sorta a purple-ish pink colour (fuschia?). I wear glasses and I could see it distinctly. Unfortunately, this was after several sips from the other side of the glass. Ugh.
My partner barely could see anything. Then he said, "Well, it's certainly has been sterilized in the dishwasher. No problem!"
I beckoned one of the owners to our table for a new glass. I pointed the lipstick out to her...but, she said she couldn't see it. How convenient!
But, of course, she was happy to get me a new glass of water.
:wtf:
This is a local restaurant we frequently visit. The food is terrific. But, I'm afraid to go back.
Now, I'm so scared to eat out anymore-anywhere! Has this ever happened to you?
:scared:

On wine glasses, mostly, for some reason. Definitely gross! Try to put it out of your mind. Don't let it stop you from enjoying a nice meal out now and again!

I've seen it all in restaurants.
Had a bug with 8 legs crawl out from underneath my plate once. They didn't charge us for the meals, but we didn't eat them either. Never went back. Too bad - they made the best pancakes in the city.
Lipstick is difficult to remove. It's made mostly of animal fat.

4. From my days working in a restaurant.... |

Lipstick is hard to get off glasses. It's takes water near to boiling temp, and most boilers just can't sustain that temp for any length of time.
As a consolation, however, all automatic dishwashers in restaurants have a "steam bath" during end cycle that is enough to sterilize the dish, even if not get the lipstick off.
Please don't let it ruin your experience.
