Poll question: Favorite Afghan Whigs album
Edited on Sun Jul-18-04 01:25 AM by dolo amber
Criminy, you people wear me out...:eyes:

But I still loves ya. ;)
:bounce:

You're not allowed to answer "Gentleman" unless you can sing more than 4 songs from memory. :P

(Extra credit if you can name their best (in my opinion :D) r&b cover ;))

1. I ADORE Congregation,
but I also love the album that cannot be named, as it's some of my favorite makeout music. How can you not love that groove? I'm stunned.

Any band that would do a cover of the temple scene from "Jesus Christ Superstar" leaves me speechless. And Greg Dulli, big hulking potbelly boy that he's become, still makes me a little....um...you know...not quite so fresh?

Anyone telling reprehensor I just said that will be duly flogged with something REALLY heavy.

2. 1965
I should really learn more about the AW's. I only have 1965 in my collection.

It's one of those bands that I got to a little late. But everything I've heard, I love.

4. I'm the only person I know who has "Big Top Halloween."

I have two copies.

That said, my favorite album of theirs probably is Gentlemen.

Congregation, Uptown Avondale, and 1965 are right up there, but songs like "Fountain and Fairfax," "Be Sweet," and (especially) "Now You Know" just hit me in the gut.

Oh, and "Creep" is not their best R&B cover -- it's good, mind you, but Uptown Avondale's "Beware" (by Al Green, natch) is possibly the greatest AW song of all, cover or no.

5. No love for "Up in It?"
I mean, anyone who thinks it's their BEST is very clearly on drugs. But it's still better than most records.
