Rethuglican Dictionary -- your suggestions?
Edited on Sun Jul-18-04 03:19 PM by joefree1
Part of my ongoing effort to understand the meandering rhetoric of the right. Got any more?

Rethuglican Dictionary

Academic Bill of Rights: System of identifying, containing, and/or eliminating liberal teachers and professors.

As Stanley Fish, Dean, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago wrote about the bill in the Chronicle of Higher Education , Feb. 10, 2004:

"Someone is going to say, let's monitor those lefty professors and keep tabs on what they're saying; and while we're at it, let's withhold federal funds from programs that do not display `ideological balance' (`balance' is also an unworthy academic goal); and let's demand that academic institutions demonstrate a commitment to hiring conservatives; and let's make sure that the material our students read is pro-American and free of the taint of relativism; and let's publish the names of those who do not comply. This is not a hypothetical list; it is a list of actions already being taken. In fact, it is a list one could pretty much glean from the Web site of State Senator John K. Andrews Jr., president of the Colorado Senate (http://www.andrewsamerica.com/), a site on which the Academic Bill of Rights is invoked frequently."
**
Class Warfare: Any criticism or jokes about the upper ruling class are spurious attacks against those who earned the right (or were God anointed) to be considered better then the rest of humanity.
However criticism or jokes about welfare mothers, union members, various ethnic groups, intellectuals, liberals, etc., are warranted and encouraged (i.e., get over it).
**
Ditto!: Affirmation of the mutual propensity for flatulence between two dittoheads (flatulent fans of Rush Limbaugh).
**
EVIL: This label is often used as a popular Excuse for Violating Individuals Liberties. Contemporary examples are "Axis of Evil, The Great Satan," or "Evil Empire." Used for any individual, group, or country that opposes a leader predisposed to religious exhortation.
**
Free Speech Zones: Cordoned area with heavy police presence where protesters are "encouraged" to gather far from the eyes or ears of those they are protesting.
**
Freedom Haters: Liberals who defy rethuglicans effort to legislate morality, insert Christian fundamentalism into government and public schools, eliminate news and entertainment diversity, and solidify international monolithic corporate hold on every aspect of life in America and the world.
**
Historical Document: Document containing all relevant facts, evidence, and theory pertaining to some issue or event but no longer relevant by the mere passing of days, minutes, nanoseconds, etc.
**
Intellectual Elitism: Label used for anyone who would dare to challenge conservative views or doctrine with any complex theorizing beyond name calling, challenges to one's patriotism, religious fervor, or sexual orientation.
Part of the effort by Right Wingers to suppress attempts by the middle or lower classes to achieve by any other means other then by greed.
See also Academic Bill of Rights.
**
Kool-aid Drinkers: Those who blindly follow rethuglican leaders in denial of all evidence of looming disasters, i.e., "there is no global warming, no right wing conspiracy, tax cuts for the rich will stimulate the economy," and "Saddam was responsible for 9/11."
**
Patriotism: Near sexual passion for any graphic design or primary color representation of the American Flag while exhorting the lower and middle class to war for rethuglican causes and self interest.
This "patriotism" is not to be confused with a love or affinity for the muddle masses that some liberals think the flag, as only a symbol, represents. Yeech.
See also Flag Suckers.
**
Stalking Points: Also known as "bait and switch," Rethuglican attempts to divert any logic based discussion of politics with inflammatory non sequitur.*
This technique forces the opposing debater to "stalk" the rethug through a wilderness of inflammatory insults, labels and accusations with no pause for factual debate.
* Following a statement with totally unrelated statement.

More coming soon ...

2. How about
values: Rethug codeword for putting the religion into politics. If your code of ethics doesn't match theirs; then you are said to lack "values" (also see evildoers).

3. Income redistribution
Income redistribution: Often used with "socialist" or "socialism", and applies only to downward transfer of wealth.

Upward redistribution of the public treasury to the wealthy shall be referred to as "growth incentive".

8. "Fairness"
Insisting that conservatism is superior to liberalism in every way. That's fair.
"Balanced"-only seriously reporting the conservative line as having any value or deserving respect, and knee-jerk dismissing the liberal ideas as Communist propaganda.
Just like Fox's "Fair and Balanced"
