Okay. What is so funny about the phrase "GIT ER DONE!"?

I realize the above phrase has been made very popular by a comedian that I consider to be a racist, but sheesh, what is so funny about it?

My husband and I spent 20 minutes last night looking at each other and imitating the comedian's delivery, and we're laughing our asses off.

I realize this shows us to be easily amused. At the same time, I'm mystified.

2. I saw him on Comedy Central recently

and he made several comments I considered to be racist. Unfortunately, I can't remember exact quotes at the moment.

I still think his catch phrase is hilarious, but I can't quite seem to figure out why.

9. It's not funny...

... it just shows how society has allowed "trailer trash culture" to become considered "valid" enough to be allowed into mainstream culture. I am a blue-collar person. I work very hard, and do what I can to educate myself, make my life better, and make the lives of my family and community better. This glorification of the lifestyles of the kinds of people one might find on the stage of "The Jerry Springer Show" is appalling.

I know that to some folks here this may make me sound like a freeper, but I'm sick and tired of the lowest common denominator being considered equal with those of us who at least try to move upward and onward.

a put down.. The coarsening of America is a HUGE problem.. But then it does suit the purposes of government.. If a gas station employee's aspirations to attend night school and better himself, are not taken seriously, and all he will ever be to "some people" is a low paid hick who "talks funny", why bother??

EVERYTHING in America is somehow funny.. :eyes:. This is the least funny time I can imagine, yet people eat up the dumb humor.. I don't get it either..

The "You might be a .... if you..." schtick was funny ..ONCE.. The fact that people are still at it, says something about society.:(

There's nothing wrong with being blue collar...and there is nothing wrong with wanting to be more.. Blue collar jobs used to support a family..they no longer do..

I guess I'm just a bit sensitive to all of this bullshit. I'm in no way ashamed of my station in life. I just hate seeing us "regular people" being lumped in with the slugs.

13. I have 2 "blue collar" sons, and one EXTREMELY white-collar

son.. Only ONE of them actually graduated from high school, and went to college.. He's a union carpenter..

The white collar one got VERY lucky, and is inherently smart. He makes high 6 figures...but it could have easily gone the other way..He got some lucky breaks, and knew the right people..

Both of the other sons are in the building industry,and work with their hands..

The youngest (the graduate) enjoys what he does, and may not do it forever, but for now, he's happy with it..He has a little bit of college to finish, but he's not sure what he wants to do, so for now, he's doing this.. he went to college in Italy for a year and would love to go back to Europe, but he's engaged to a girl who is too close to her family to ever leave the state, let alone the country..:)

12. He's uses it in a bunch of different contexts.

It actually IS funny because he keeps changing up the meaning of it, depending on what he's talking about. He usually follows up a bit or two with it every five minutes or so, and every time he says it he's implying something different.

I wish I could give an example to illustrate, but I can't remember any of his bits.

On edit: It's really a pretty clever phrase (pliable enough to use with regard to any topic) and comedic tactic (one that I've actually never seen before- making a CHANGING running joke with a three word phrase).

Wish I'd thought of it myself.
