travel tips? Going through New England next week
Hey New England DU'ers. I am traveling through Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine next week. (don't think I will have time to hit Boston unfortunately). Any recommendations for things to hit?

So far I am going to the Intervale Center in Burlington www.intervale.org and the Farmer's Diner in Barre www.farmersdiner.com. so you can see I have a real interest in local agricultural/food development type stuff.

but also interested in natural wonders, and political history stuff. Are there good museums dedicated to the early town hall history of the area? or the NH Primaries? Is there a Howard Dean interpretive center yet? heh heh and although I am in Nova Scotia, any can't miss seafood places on the coast? I saw something on the Boston Channel about a Clam Box restaurant? probably in Mass. mmmm deep fried clam strips. but we can get those here.

1. That Clam Box is in Ipswich, Mass. They serve "Full belly" clams.
I don't know the difference between those and regular clams, but I've had them and they are good.

3. the difference is the bellies
clam strips are just the dense, chewy, fibrous stuff. Fried Clams is an entire clam fried.

Usually strips come from larger clams, so the bellies would be huge. Regular fried clams are much more tender and flavorful than strips.

2. the Clam Box is in Ipswich . . .
on the Massachusetts north shore . . . if you get to that area, spend some time in Newburyport, right on the NH border . . . Portsmouth NH is nice, too . . . take in the Prescott Park Arts Festival while you're there . . . http://www.artfest.org/

4. Avoid I-95 like the black plague!
I just re-read your post, and you mention Vermont, NH and Maine, so I don't think you should hit I-95...
