Medical info needed...swallowing disorder.
I friend of mine has been diagnosed with a swallowing disorder. It is some sort of a ring in her esophagus. She was given the name of this disorder but can't remember it. It's two words: the first is the guy who discovered it and the second word is "ring". Her father also had this problem.

I've been all over the internet this morning looking for this and I can find references to "rings and webs" and "dysphagia" but nothing about this particular disorder.

Has anyone ever heard of this?

2. Why not just just (have her) call the doctor and get it

or her father - assuming he's still alive.

5. She won't call her doctor.
Her father is dead. My friend is so passive about these things that she would go through the rest of her life not asking. That's why her frineds do it for her.

4. Nissen Fundoplication?
http://www.geocities.com/fundofamilies/description.html

The Fundoplication is a surgery done to control Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease(GERD). This condition if left untreated can cause a variety of complications including esophageal cancer and lung damage. Most reflux is controllable by the use of medications but occasionally the medications don’t work or just aren’t enough. When this is the case, the doctors have to turn to surgery. Here is a description of what happens in the surgery.

I had this surgery in 2000. It took care of the GERD but I had and still have really bad side effects.
