He died a few years ago, following a fist fight outside a doughnut shop. (And what a Lynchian way to go . . .) Actually, I thought he was quite funny as Pete in 'Twin Peaks'. ("There was a fiiisshh! IN the percolator!")
I believe the character he played in 'Wild at Heart' was named O.O. Spool.

...his only starring role. In that film, he did all Lynch asked and more, IMO. As others have noted, he died a tragic, perverse, Lynchian death. But I have it on good authority that Lynch was quite upset by his demise. Reality occasionally hits home, yeah?
