A couple of messageboard questions I'm embarrassed I haven't asked yet--
Edited on Mon Jul-19-04 05:12 PM by malachibk
(1) What does 'eom' mean?
(2) What does 'n/t' mean?
(3) What does 'imo' mean?
(4) Why, when I take off my pop-up blocker, do some topics have 'flames' on them?

Just like a man, I guess. Don't like to ask for directions.

edit: spelling

1. #1-3
End of message (no text to follow)
No text (same as above)
In my opinion.

You're on your own with #4.

3. Here you go
eom = end of message
n/t = no text

Both of these are used when the entire message is contained in the subject of the post, there's not actual message so readers can skip the message block.

imo = in my opinion; IMHO = in my humble opinion is better manners

flames? You mean the flaming icon beside certain threads? That means the thread got to 30 responses, indicating a heated topic.

Why do some messages say 'Ignored'?

6.  You have that poster
on your Ignore list. I.e. you won't see their posts.

8. Must have done that by accident when I'm stoned...
subconsciously wanting to sleep or something (or just being an uncoordinated moron.)
