2. I was invited to a car on Christmas eve
She was sitting in front of me, but her "best friend" told me it was over.

And then they left me in a parking lot on Christmas eve.

5. Karma is a bitch#$
what goes around comes around. Just imagine one day she will be invited to a car and her "best friend" is going to say it is over and drive off with his new best friend.
When it does happen, you better not take her back!

18. It was almost 20 years ago, so no worries there.
She ended up marrying this guy we knew best for eating his own snot when he thought people weren't watching.

Karma is a pain in the ass indeed.

4. my ex and my husband's ex fell in love with each other....
and then broke up horribly, leaving my husband and I (who had both told them this was not what we were okay with) to do the breaking up the homes and filing for divorce because they took their hurt out on us.

Five years ago. 4 years ago, we decided to be friends (not the exes) and got married three years ago.

So it has an ultimately happy ending, but it sure wasn't pretty at the time.

6. I Told Her I Had to Go Back to California, . . .
where I could make a living. (This was January 1985, terrible depression in the Pacific Northwest, 25% unemployment, awful.)

She said "But there's no God in California." (She was a cradle Catholic, but had just found the Unity Church in Seattle.)

I said, "What makes you say that? What about all the Jesus Freaks in Orange County?"

She said, "We're in the middle of the Apocalypse. When the Rapture comes, no one in California will be saved."

I said, "You've got to be kidding."

She said, "I'm not kidding. I'll pray for you."

I said, "It's over."

Ten days later I'd packed my stuff and moved from Seattle back to Berkeley.

7. It's not as bad as some of the stuff above, but...
There was this one girl that I was just NUTS about. I threw money, time and affection into that relationship like there was no tomorrow. For Christmas, I bought her a $300 ring -- this was back in the 70s and I wasn't making that much at the time -- and two days later she broke up with me.

But she continued to hang around with my circle of friends and she continued to wear the ring. Eventually, she married my best friend -- whom I did everything in my power to discourage -- and a few years later, he came home from work to find all his stuff in a pile in the yard.

I realize now that she's a head case, but love is blind when you're in the middle of it.

9. I was downstairs she was upstairs both yelling....
I slammed a door. She called the police. Mind, I hadn't laid a pinkie on her and was on a different floor of the house. I was restrained from seeing my children, and thrown out of my house with nothing but clothes.

It sucks being a man in California. Mairrage is a farce. The Constitution is dead.

Still bitter.

changed her mind about the relationship during the drive across country. Due to financial situation, we still had to live together for 6 months after the move. Tough times.

19. Same thing happened to my mom
Edited on Tue Jul-20-04 11:30 PM by khephra
He also raped her in the process too. She left him because he started getting sick of my screaming (I was just born) and she went back to get her stuff while he was supposed to be in jail.

Surprise. He was out and waiting on her.

The "irony" here is that he was never fertile the rest of his life, but he ended up "gifting" my mother and me with a half-brother.

16. He had been acting strangely for a couple of weeks, but
one evening, we had a lovely dinner together and then went to the home of some frends for dessert. Had an absolutely fantastic time with this other couple, laughing and joking.

He took me home, and as we were getting into bed he said, "By the way, I think we'd better break up."

When I ran into the other couple a few weeks later, they couldn't believe that we had broken up within hours of our leaving their house, because they had been thinking, "Lydia and That Guy are really on the same wavelength."

I guess not, though.

The worst breakup I ever HEARD of concerned a colleague at one of my teaching jobs. He was hired by the college's sister school in Japan to teach English on a renewable contract, and his wife was supposed to join him after selling their house.

He met her at Narita Airport and told her not to bother leaving the airport and to take the next flight home, because he had been intending to divorce her for a long time.

He could have told her that BEFORE she sold the house and sent all her stuff to Japan, don't you think?

17. Worst Breakup I've ever heard of:
A friend of mine was leaving her bf because he had his 18 year old brother hold her down so he could rape her. So, he threw her keys out in a field, and tried to lock her in his house. He hit her repeatedly. She grabbed his testicle, squeezed until it popped, and then beat the hell out of him with a crowbar. She got free, grabbed her keys and drove home PDQ.
The judge dropped the rape charge because his family denied it ever happening, and he got probation and she got lectured by the judge for having a problem with anger, and a Protective order against him. He's up here constantly, even though there's a warrant out for his arrest. He thinks he's immune. And apparently, he is.

21. My husbands divorce....absurd!
When I met Greg he was in the process of his divorce - had been for over a year. His wife of 14 years had an affair with their dog trainer who came to the house to train the dog. Her mother lived with them, saw what was happening and tried to tell Greg and others there was something going on. In order to try to save her butt, the Ex told everyone her mom was having mental problems and saying strange demented things.

Greg finally caught them together one night and confronted her - they decided to divorce. Two weeks later, she comes up pregnant. Greg had had a vasectomy so there was no question who the father was. They went ahead and filed for the divorce, selling the house, Greg moved home with his parents, she and the Dog Trainer bought a trailer. Of the three kids, she took the oldest two to Greg and told him she couldn't deal so he would have to take them and she kept the youngest.

The divorce was due in court that Spring (break up had happened in November/December) she found out that if she let the divorce go through, she had no health insurance to cover the birth of her lovers baby. She shows up at the courthouse in the divorce proceedings and stops everything so Greg's jobs health insurance would cover her hospital bills when the baby was born.

After this child was born, the divorce became even more complicated because a Guardian Ad Litem now had to be appointed for the baby. They had no money so Greg had to pay for that. Even tho everyone agreed the baby was not Greg's, the judge made them jump thru hoops in order to finalize the divorce. It ended up finally being over the next May. Over 1-1/2 years of torture and tons of legal bills and it was finally over - we married 2 weeks later. That was 13 years ago and we are fine.

22. My first love
4 years of my life and he called me up the day before my 20th birthday and told me he was leaving the next day for Hawaii and getting married. I had no clue, not one, in fact I had loaned him money the week before and he used it for her ring. He never paid me back either. Prick.

25. My family disowned me
I'm an Orthodox Jew and I fell in love with a beautiful African lady who emigrated from London.

My parents and family disowned me.

Once, I tried to go back home (Ambridge PA) with her and we were not welcome. We really loved all the KKKloset KKKlan types calling using the "N" word in various combinations.

My mother was crippled in an auto accident in 1977 and she spent the last 20 years of her life in a nursing home. Time and Time again, I had to sacrifice because nobody else would pay the bills. Did I get a "Thank You?"

No, I got plenty of "F" Yous.

My lady told me to keep doing good thing for them, no matter what.

I wouldn't trade the love of my life for anything
