7/20/04 - HSN Already Shilling Xmas Merchandise |
|
With 5 months to go before the actual holiday.
If the economy is so great, why is HSN already playing the Xmas card (pun intended)?

1. HSN used to do that in the late 80s... I remember watching it |

in between bouts of Iran Contra (my mother hated that I was obsessed at age 11 with Iran Contra, so she made me watch other things during the long, hot, Yuma Arizona summer).
They shilled Xmas crap in July back then.
Is it project stuff like Make Your Own Fabric Paint Dresser Scarf? The craft stores are gearing up for that crap now, since it takes 3 months to finish the projects....
But if it's just general, made in china crap, it may be economy, it may just be cluelessness.
You;d think back to school would be a bigger draw....

Is a common retail "theme". This time of year in retail is something of the doldrums, people are on vacation, back to school hasn't really kicked in yet and sales drop off a bit. This is just going back to an old standard not some deep dark conspiracy.
