ow my brain
i've been feeLing reaLLy funny for the Last hour or so, and having troubLe with normaL thinking. it was to the point i figured i shouLd go home because i'm starting to not trust myseLf with my work.

and then it hit me - i forgot my brain piLL Last night. doh!
DUers on daiLy meds, how do you make sure you remember em? i onLy have 1 a day so i feeL that a piLL box is extreme. maybe i shouLd start checking off on a caLendar.

another thing: if this is what 1 missed piLL does to me, i'm guessing i'LL be on it forever?

2. It's kind of too bad they don't package other daily pills like they do
birth control pills. I almost never forget to take my pill (I haven't even varied the hour in the last few months), in part because it's right there in a convenient little package.

Setting a watch alarm could help -- that's what I did when I first started on BCPs.

4. Keep them out in plain sight
where you are normally going to be at the time you take them. The kitchen table where you have breakfast, the table by the chair where you sit in the evening. I have two MTWTFSS pill boxes that I keep by the computer.

I also have a wrist watch with a daily alarm and a pocket pill box that used to be part of a key chain for when I know I won't be home to take the evening pills.

I never forget to take my pills.
What, never?
No, never.
What never?
Well, hardly ever!

5. Do you make coffee in the morning?
Maybe you could set your medication close to the coffee. If you keep your toothbrush in a dry place (few people do), this might be a good place to keep it.

Do you always take it at night? Make it part of your nightly ritual, if you can. Use a calendar, if you can. I have tried that, and then couldn't remember whether I marked it because I intended to take it, or marked it because I already had taken it.

I agree, it is a shame that all daily medications don't come with a pack like the Pill. Perhaps it is not excessive to put them into a "this every day" medicine box.

It seems to me that this simple thing might be better than missing medication, or risk double dosing.

9. What's your dosage?
I'm on 50 mg a day of Zoloft myself. The only withdrawal I get is when I stop taking it for several days...I get this strange, throbbing eyeball feeling. It's as if my brian is shaking. That's when it's time to reload.

11. I keep a sticky note by the door that says
Pills?
T-Pass?

Those are the two things I forget on a regular basis. But now I see it everyday as I leave and have forgotten them a lot less often.

the sign said "drugs?" - it was a great heat/Laughter getter with visitors. :P

for some reason i'd stiLL forget sometimes, so i switched to taking it at night (my thinking: if i forget at night, i can stiLL take it in the morning before work). Lotta good that did me.

hence the stock pile of bodies in my basement.

i have a little pink pill box that i carry in my purse and every morning, i put my daily quota of mood stabilizers in there and space them out. it's not scientific, but it's working for me. so far.

18. wow!
my personaL phiLosophy for about the Last 10 years has been,

"if you don't pLace expectations on peopLe, you'LL never be disappointed"

my mom says that's a seLfish attitude to have, but LuckiLy i didn't expect her to say anything at aLL so i wasn't disappointed.

i think we shouLd start our own movement sus.

21. hmmm
i think we couLd incorporate it into my start-up 3rd party,
the LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE PARTY.

it reaLLy is a great phiLosphy to Live by. say one day you get mugged, and Left for dead... a bunch of peopLe waLk by and don't stop to heLp* (or caLL 911). if you weren't expecting them to heLp you, then you wouLdn't be disappointed that these samaritans were no better than the muggers. you'd aLso pick yourseLf up by the bootstraps quicker and get yourseLf to the hospitaL.

* this is actuaLLy happened to me, and if you can't teLL, i'm bitter. :P

22. we could also incorporate
it into MY start-up 4rd party, the "STOP LOOKING AT ME!" Party.
actually, i say that a lot when i'm walking around town. "what the hell are YOU looking at?" and i also yell at people who drive through the crosswalk, "ASSHOLE!" and then i give them the thumbs-up sign.

" this is actuaLLy happened to me,"

holy crap. that is terrible.

14. add some vitamins
then you have enough to justify a pill box. a good quality cold water fish oil, salmon oil being the best, and a multivitamin high in antioxidants is clinically proven to help mood disorders, and increase the effectiveness of psychoactive drugs. so there ya go.
if you don't want to do that, get a pill box that you count out your weeks worth on the same day every week. then you can count, and know if you took it or not.
there was a little neighborhood pharmacy near here that would put any pills on a 30 day bubble pack. there must be others out there that do that.
