Another colleague says: "They think Carter is the worst ex-President?"

I said: "Well, only until 2005."

All I got at first were a few puzzled looks until the dawn finally broke, along with a few grins. Sweet! :)

But seriously, I can't think of any ex-president who has done more charity work than Jimmy Carter. Hopefully Clinton can carry on his legacy with the AIDS relief work he has been doing.

into homes of their own when they didn't even plan well enough to have rich parents, he also has been seen prancing around the world helping to broker peace between adversaries!

And, he also has interfered in elections to make sure they were fairly conducted! I mean, what? How in the world would we have gotten our current leader if Jimmy Carter had been looking at our election processes?

14. Another true story from the bookstore where I work.

Last Saturday someone was looking at our sidelines, the little odds and ends that inspire impulse purchases and don't really fit on the bookshelf. Well, we have a lot of political stuff, and much of it is anti-Bush (Yes, we're an independent bookstore). Someone picked up one of the George W. Bush decks of cards and said something like, "It's not a full one, is it?"

Before Carter, human rights were only given lip service in international relations. Carter pushed the idea that soverignity should not be a cover for genocide or other human rights violations.
