Can I Plug A Book Here? (Rainforest/Civilization/FASCINATING Read!)
this is perhaps the BEST book i have EVER read!

i have read and reread this book maybe a dozen times over the years and it NEVER fails to amaze me.

a tale of a scientist who lives, befriends and tries to save Indigenous People in the RainForest. New medicines are discovered and ancient methods uncovered.

I won't spoil the ending for you but this is perhaps the most IMPORTANT book i have had the pleasure to read.

here it is on Amazon, check you library or bookstore or whatever.

would LOVE some reviews when you are finished.

2. Thanks matcom
this sounds interesting. For a moment I thought I had read it but after looking I have not. Have you read "Shadows in the Sun" Travels to Landscapes of Spirit and Desire by Wade Davis? I don't know how similar they are but that was the book you brought to mind. You might like that one as well.

3. Yeah, it's a good read.

Saw Plotkin read at Powell's Books a few years ago. Alas, not such a good speaker.

The book is definitely worth checking out, however -- though it could use an update at this juncture.

7. There's been quite a bit more to come out of the area in recent years...
in addition to study of and work on the various remedies and plants. There is much more to tell, and it be wonderful to see it put together in a sequel or updated version of this book.
