OMG! Could my State go DEM in November???
Bwahaha I heard on CNN that Idaho is hovering around 55% for Bush and it is almost ready to be a labeled a state "up for grabs."

When I heard that I jumped off my couch, out of my half-alseep state and exclaimed, "HOLY SHIT NO WAY!"

To explain, Idaho is not only a long time massive conservative state, it was Bush's strongest state in 2000, with something near 70% of the Idaho vote.

I had totally written it off. I mean, I was going to vote and all, but I never feel like it really matters.

Jesus Christ I may have to get out there and start working for the campaign here hahahaa!

1. I know there is a case for an electoral system, but a popular vote sure
would mobilize more people to get to the polls.

4. Holy Shit! No Way!
Pretty much sums up my thinking.

Seriously, even Colorado isn't looking like a lock for Bush right now, with our 30% independent voters, and sentiment growing against him daily. If *Idaho* goes Kerry, whoa.

6. HOLY SHIT!!!Hell yea join a campaign!!!
Georgia(where I live) is a very important state to Kerry's election, and it would be good to have Idaho join that list. GA is the most republican state in the US, and if Kerry wins here, IT'S FUCKIN' OVER!

old family farmers (4 generations) and he went up for a family reunion last weekend and heard all kinds of anti-Bush talk. The old Korean vets hated him, the women hated him and the 20 somethings hated him

14. Doubtful, to say the least.
Idaho is one of the most solidly Republican states in the country. It last went for the Democrat in 1964, when LBJ swept the whole country with the exception of the South and Arizona. It hadn't gone to the Democrat prior to that since 1948.

Take a look at these historical figures for Idaho from the US Election Atlas. They're not good for the Democrats at all.

If Kerry wins Idaho, I suspect he's on his way to a landslide. But I wouldn't put anything past him...

16. FIFTY FIVE PERCENT MOTHER FUCKA! :D
Edited on Wed Jul-21-04 01:46 PM by Selwynn
Down from app. 70% in 2000.

So take your "doubtful" and shove it! Wooooo! :D

Edit - I'm just kidding. I know its "doubtful." So I don't need dorks like you to come piss on my fucking parade. 55% is nothing to sneeze at. It is amazing that it is that close. If more people would take MY attitude about it instead of your attitude about it, Kerry would win the state in an amazing narrow victory. Or if not that, at least swing to a third party, which I find more likely in idaho.

17. It is not that close.
Bush - 55%
Kerry - 25%

If Kerry were polling somewhere in the 40s, I would probably share your optimism. But Bush's margin is 30%. HIS MARGIN IS BIGGER THAN KERRY'S PERCENTAGE. By your logic, Rhode Island is about to fall to the Republicans, because Kerry only has 49% there (we'll just leave out the fact that Bush only has 25% there). Rhode Island will go to the Democrats by a comfortable margin, and Idaho will go to the Republicans by a comfortable margin.

Work for Kerry in Idaho. But be prepared for a defeat there. It's not pissing on your parade - it's just trying to temper your optimism with a healthy dose of pragmatism. Idaho goes to Kerry if Kerry wins the election in a landslide. I can't see any other situation - no matter how many people adopt your attitude - where it goes to the Democrats. The Republican vote is just too strong there.

I'm glad you're optimistic about Kerry's chances in Idaho; I just don't share your optimism. Sorry about that.

18. Don't you mean "Mother-cheney-a"??
*snicker* I can't stop myself from cheneying "fuck" these days. So useful.

Anyway - I'm getting the feeling more and more that we can take these clowns. I've said it here something like four times today.

They've overreached themselves and we've remembered that they may be slick and vicious - but they actually ARE stupid. Stupid in ways that matter to average Americans when they go to the polls. Iraq cheney'd 'em - but good, and rightly so.

I wouldn't tip anywhere near overconfidence - but I just have this feeling lately.

About as likely.
