Shrek 2 for young kids?
Has anyone seen Shrek 2? Is it OK for kids 5 and 7? Any sexy things that would be to grown up or bad words?

1. I took my 4 year old and it was okay IMO
No bad words from what I remember, but there is some sexual induendo that went over my daughter's head. Cute animation, good story line...we enjoyed it.

3. Thanks.
We saw Harry Potter but there isn't anything else out there for kids this summer.

2. yeah...
it's fine for kids. Any adult humor (and it's plenty funny for grown-ups) is well masked.

5. it would be fine
there are MANY inside jokes that might go over their heads a bit, kind of like the first one. Loads of cultural and mass media references.

But they'll love it.

6. I think it should be fine for kids
I viewed this movie last night and I actually think 5-7 year old kids would be an excellent audience for this movie. There are several aspects of the plot of a traditional fairytale in “Shrek 2” and, as well as being highly enjoyable and entertaining, it also promotes some important moral lessons about not accepting people at face value and not making judgments based on appearance or social status.

Here is a review from a site specially designed for parents wanting to check if a movie is suitable for young children

7. My boys are 5 and 6
They did just fine. Of course, they also saw Shrek, so I wasn't exactly expecting anything different.

There are some subtle references in there, but nothing that a kid that age would be likely to pick up. One scene I'm thinking about had a cross-dressing bartender. My kids didn't notice it at all - and if they had, we would have chatted about it after the movie.

8. The sexy stuff is probably over the kids' heads... but
there is a scene that shows Pinnochio wearing women's underwear... this *cough* "traditional values" site makes a big deal of it (which should make you even happier to take your kids to it, IMO):

And my review... Shrek 2 is the best animated film I've ever seen... I was laughing the entire time. Antonio Banderas should get an Oscar.

9. not nearly as clever as the first Shrek IMO, but ok for kids
my son is 8. It seemed fine for younger ones as well.

13. Fine for kids. They won't get the "adult" jokes
Like Puss'N'Boots getting busted for a bag of catnip.
