A fight to change Wal Mart practices!
No Mas Wal Mart

In November, 1980 an epic fight occurred between Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran. In the 8th round Sugar Ray Leonard in a rematch fight made Roberto Duran say No mas or no more in English.. It is time to tell Wal mart no more as well, and we can do it if we are willing to fight like Leonard did that wonderful night..Because Wal Mart has become the largest American employer, the wages it pays, the lack of health insurance of it's employees, as well as the inequality in it's promotions affects everyone.. I do not hate Wal Mart, I only hope to give you reasons in this, and an approach to change their practices in this writing..

How does Wal mart affect me directly??

According to Good jobs First, a research group that monitors state and local job subsidies, Wal Mart received subsidies of over 1 billion dollars and found more then 240 cases in which the construction of new Wal Mart Facilities was assisted by public resources.. So while you are getting low prices on your clothes and groceries, you are having to pay more in taxes for Wal Mart..

According to walmarstswaronworkers.com more than a half million of Wal mart workers have to look for health care from other sources because Wal Mart's premiums are too high.. These cost eventually get back to the tax payer when that employee and his or her family has to turn to government subsidy in order to get health care.. This directly cost you, the taxpayer!

How does Wal Mart affect me indirectly??

If you work a blue collar job, or supervise one, Wal Mart wages will impact your life.. if Wal mart pays a single mom $6.50 to cashier, than the warehouse only has to pay $8.00 to it's worker.. Although the warehouse job is tougher, it still pays more than Wal Mart.. If the warehouse worker makes $8 than the construction worker only has to be paid $9.00. If the construction worker only gets paid $9, than the superviser only has to be paid $12.50. This vicious cycle lowers the living standards for many of the hard working lower wage earners and their children.

If Wal Mart squeezes manufacturers to make their product cheaper than viable with USA workers, than outsourcing of workers occur.. At some point it will affect everyone, but right now it is not a priority to some because it is only affecting blue collar jobs.. Ask yourself this, are you working a job that could be outsourced?? Chances are you could be, and white collar Accountants are starting to become affected as companies move their operations overseas.. Some call it free trade, but with the huge trade deficit we have I call it the eroding of American families for the gain of the wealthy. There is nothing free about the amount of deficit that is occurring, it is costing us substantially.

What else should I know?

Currently a 1.6 million women of Wal Mart suit is occurring because the women say that they have been discriminated against in promotion opportunities and discrimination of various methods. If you are a woman Wal Mart shopper this should be an outrage to you.

Why are you so against Wal Mart??

According to organicconsumers.org Wal Mart posted 245 billion in sales in the most recent year prior to November of 2003.. The CEO of Wal Mart is currently paid a salary of over 25 million, and the founder's relatives have been estimated to be worth more than 20 billion. A company this large can do better than this for American workers, and we should expect it since it is the blood and sweat of the American worker that made them so profitable!

What can I do??

Like a chain letter, so to can this propagate.. I am not only asking you to discontinue shopping at Wal Mart until they bring their standards up to other competitors(such as Cost Co), I am also asking that you rewrite or copy this and distribute, or email this to at least 100 people.. This should not take you more than 1 or 2 hours one weekend day.. I will personally be attempting to propagate the message by emailing and placing hundreds of copies of this on cars in my area.(Please do not place do anything that may get you arrested) We need to get the word out, and Take Back America for American workers and their families!

Are there any resources for me to look at?
