Just listened to "The Passing Measures" by David Lang
WAAAAY cool! Very slow - which was Lang's intention, to slow the listener down for contemplation.

For small orchestra, chorus, and bass clarinet.

Available on CD, from the Bang on the Can label.

It's a very ambient, slow, semi-quiet, contemplative piece in which at all times at least one instrument is simply holding a tone, so that there is always a static foundation underneath (though the foundation does move, albeit far slower than the rest of the stuff).

I need to check thisw Lang guy out more. He's a founder of Bang on a Can, but other than this his brilliantly hilarious total dead-pan rendition of "Born to be Wild", I don't know him.
