Kool Aid? Pretzel? pls define.

I see these terms used, and wonder...what do they mean? Why Kool aid? is it from that book acid test? so, why now, long after the book?

I spent the last 600 years in a cave in Tibet, so i dont really know the current lingo.

1. Kool aid...

I assume you are referring to the term "drank the kool aid" and that goes back to the the Jonestown massacre where all the followers of Jim Jones drank cyanide laced kool-aid because their leader told them to.

Basically republicans who "drank the Kool-aid" believe whatever they are told and will blindly follow their leaders.

and pretzel refers to the pretzel Bush choked on a few years ago while watching a football game

2. Pretzel refers to the...

... snack item on which Bush is said to have choked while watching a football game, causing him to fall off the couch, to appear the next day with noticeable bruises and rug burns (that's the official story).

Kool-Aid refers to the cyanide potion given to Jim Jones' supporters in the mass suicide in Guyana a couple of decades ago.
