T*ts in the ringer at the foodstore last night... |
|
Needed food for today at work, and for tonight's dinner. Had $2. Half gallon of delectable chocolate milk, food of the gods, for $1.99 with no tax. Thusly did I experience chocolate milk for breakfast-lunch.
Paycheck in today, a day early. Yay. Off to bank to cash it. stupid bank closed at 4 PM. Rest of the chocolate milk for dinner. :-)
I like chocolate milk.
But tomorrow there shall be burritos!

2. The deal: half gallon for $1.99 |

That and it was the first thing I saw that provoked the Yum Reflex.
Right now I'm toting more milk than a pregnant Dolly Parton.
Why do so many banks close before or right at the times that perhaps most people get off work?

5. You are making me crave chocolate milk |
|
And I don't even drink milk or like chocolate, LOL!:D
Don't they have ATMs in your neck of the woods? I live in the boonies and I can't remember the last time I actually went inside a bank.

6. Arrrrghhhhh! Don't say that A-word! |

Recently, I banked a check via ATM and it was held for two weeks...I had zero dollars for almost that entire time. Not fun, especially given that I had hundreds in the bank that the swine (even after repeated attempts on my part at three branches) wouldn't give me -- they also notified me of this hold after I'd already written a check that subsequently bounced and cost me and the payee penalty fees.
I hate banks.
Besides, I've got a total of $3 in the bank right now and ATMs only spit 'em out in increments of $20. Yay, verily, with a PhD and stellar CV to my name and working my bootie off for wages insufficient to sustain life (and, to add to the fun, liable to be 'of no fixed abode' very soon), I am surely enjoying the Bush-II Economy...
Actually, in my field and at my level jobs are scarce at the best of times, so maybe Junior's Economic Miracle has less to do with it than it does with most unemployed and udneremployed people out there today. Getting divorced from a wife who frittered away all of my hard-earned money and managed to put me six figures in debt hasn't helped...
Time for a bit more chocolate milk. Feel free to join me! :-)

I have not had a problem with an ATM yet. My financial adviser feels that ATMs are only okay to use for small transactions and he would have a conniption if he knew that I do pretty much all my transactions there. I just never seem to make it to the bank when it is open and I probably wouldn't know what do if I did make it inside.
Why did they hold your check for two weeks?! That's insane. Even here in the North Country, funds are available on the next business day. I would fight the penalty fees. I realize that you aren't exactly Jeb Clampett, but we little guys have rights too.:grr:
Is there no way for you to find a better paying job? With your qualifications, I'd think that you would be very marketable.:-)
I also feel your financial pain. I'm not destitute and have investments, though most of them are IRAs, so I can't touch them. I am presently unemployed and break into a sweat when I have to pay a bill. Good jobs are also hard to find here in the North Country, Bush* or no Bush*.:-(
I'm also sorry to hear about the divorce. That really sucks.;(
Maybe I will take you up on that chocolate milk. You're nothing if not resourceful.

|
and spend your 3 bucks that way. Is direct deposit out of the question?

7. Well, it's the closest I've come (no pun intended, |
|
unless you thought it was a good one) in quite some time. This perhaps explains my recent ingestion of significant quantities of chocolate milk.

4. You're lucky. We have tax on food in North Carolina. |
|
But hey, cigarettes are cheap here!

8. NC's got it's priorities all |
|
wrong. :-)
I can't figure out the tax here -- it's on some food items and not on others. I think they just randomly make it up at the register. That's why I'm always sure to smile at the cashier...
