I have committed a grievous error
Not realizing Simba Bimba was catting my footsteps, I quite accidentally shut the bathroom door on his tail. He went ballistic and flew through the air hissing and spitting, then hightailed it under the sofa, with a scared and bushy-tailed Monty following closely. I'M SORRY, SIMBA!!!!

1. Don't worry...
they'll forgive you in a short while. I have stepped on and slammed doors and drawers on all of my cats at times, and they have always forgiven me. I know you feel awful, but this too shall pass.

2. Time to dig out the catnip and kitty treats...
I have found that, in addition to bribery, groveling and profuse apologies generally work.

6. Shouldn't be a big deal--just keep an eye on it
If the tail becomes limp and drags on the ground, or the cat won't let you touch it or sits/walks funny, take him/her to the vet--their tail may be broken. Most likely everything will be okay though :) My cat broke its tail about 4 months ago---don't know how, but he did. The vet checked him out, said "keep an eye on it, it'll heal in about a month" and that was it! Really simple!

:)
