Inspired by another thread in GD - what get's your Irish up?
HAHA. I love that phrase because I fit it. I get mad, really mad at politics, easily. My Mom's family is from Belfast and I remembe how esay it is to get a yellin' match going.

SO what get's your Irish up?

6. "Mom's family is from Belfast " ok now it's all coming together

When I lived in Scotland I met a lot of Irish from the North

They were great but they were the craziest bunch of hard drinking
people I've ever encountered.

I mean I thought all my Scottish relatives were wicked Boozers.

So your half Irish or quarter

or just your Drinking Arm :)

Great people salt of the Earth.

The Irish get my Scottish up..or is that the Scottish get my Irish up

I need a Drink...

Say, for instance, when one writes "get's" when one really means "gets." :spank:

On edit, just saw Wonk's post. Didn't mean to beat a dead horse.

10. I went to bed earlier but could't sleep & am back to add my opinion
I also am of Irish extraction...I remember my grandfather saying that the best thing his family ever did was to leave Irland and get away from the craziness of all the hate and violence that had gone on for 100's of years...
What I love about my Irish heritage is the way we have with words and our sense of humour....What I don't like is that we hang on to hurts and grievances forever.....I will tell you a true story to illustrate this...My husband and I were at a night club in Toronto about 20 yrs ago...There was an entertainer from Irland who came around to the customers and sat at our tables after his act...When he sat with us my husband said to him, "do you get back to Irland often?"....The guy said...NEVER,... AS LONG AS THE BRITS ARE THERE!...Whereupon I with my big mouth said...."Isn't 800 yrs a long time to stay mad?"...and this guy replied, "IT'S ONLY 700!:...No kidding, he really said this!
