Good Morning DU!
 Just wanted to say thanks to those of you who really tried to cheer me up yesterday and had a lot of positive things to say. I really appreciate you guys and it really did make a difference. So, thanks. :) Also had a great experience this morning with Kerry people. I was driving the Kerry Mobile (my aunt's car who has 3 bumper stickers - John Kerry for Pres, Bush is a Weapon of Mass Deception, and Send Bush to Iraq and Send Our Troops Home) to work and this van had stopped behind me at the redlight. I had already saw they had a Kerry bumper sticker when the pulled out from a side road a few miles back (which already made me smile). After we leave the redlight, the car speeds up, gets into the other lane and pulls up beside me. There's a lady probably around 50 and what looked like her daughter in the car, honking and waving their little arms off. :D It's so nice to see some of the world is waking up. Such a great way to start the morning.

:donut: Now, how are YOU guys doing??

7. G'day, Blondie!
:hi:

Glad to see that you're feeling better!

Had fun working in the field yesterday testing equipment for the disaster recovery trailer. I got to see a microwave system work, in addition to attaching the mounting brackets to the antenna horn, raising the assembly onto the tripod, and then taking the whole thing apart. :bounce:

8. Hey!
Sounds like a good time! Hope you didn't break too much of a sweat doing those things! Did you make time for workouts? :D

How's work this morning? (and thanks again for cheering me up yesterday).

9. You're welcome
And I broke a major sweat yesterday. Moving heavy equipment by hand (with help) outside in the heat.

Back in the lab with meetings and paperwork to do--the usual.

11. Yuck!
How hot was it there yesterday? It's been in the 90s here. Too hot for outside unless I'm going to be in a pool!

At least you have AC today!

16. Back on my head
working on my technical reports. Also, I have to take a couple of company on-line courses. The usual day for me. And, as usual--no doughnut for you! Back in training. :P

How's the day for you? Do you have the house to yourself?

17. No donut is okay.
I had Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal for breakfast! :D Whoopsie!

Yep. I'll be in the house by myself for months. My friend Michelle might come over tonight and hang out, but I'm in the mood to cook so maybe not. Bought all sorts of healthy salad stuff and veggies, meats, etc. :)

And you'll be away from insane roommates for a few months, that's gotta be fun!

Will your favorite Marine be stopping in before he goes to the West Coast?

20. Well, sorta.
I never realized how much time you have to think about things when you're by yourself. The time is great to be able to think and not deal with annoying people, but I tend to think too much. I swear, I'm my own worst enemy. But yes, it's nice. I like knowing that I'll be able to come home tonight, cook dinner for myself, get some things done, and drink water from a cool looking champagne glass and NO ONE can laugh at me. :D (I realize I'm a dork).

I hope he'll be able to, but things are up in the air right now. I didn't realize how much it had cost him in gas to get here the last time and he's having to buy new tires for his truck so I'm not sure. The plan is that he's taking 15 days of leave. He'll be stopping by here first for a day to see me and his sis (who lives an hour away from me) and then he'll be going to Michigan (where the rest of his family lives) and then probably coming back down for another day on his way back to base. That's money permitting though. :(

21. And time
Edited on Wed Jul-21-04 08:04 AM by Lurking_Argyle
that sounds like a lot of road time. Hopefully he'll get a chance to see you. 15 days at one time is very rare. That happens between duty transfers. Most of the time it's 5-7 days vacation.

Is that tap water in that champagne class?

22. It's Evian!
:D

15 days is pretty long (but it'll probably end up being shorter because they're doing TONS of training right now). But he has to have time to get a lot of stuff together. (Finishing his Will, signing over a little bit of Power of Attorney to his sister, things like that). During September he won't have the time and though he may get a small break in Oct., this will be the last chance for him to get things straight before he's deployed. *sigh*

Crap! It's late! Gotta run! Thanks for listening, talk to you in the AM! Have a great day!

Work is fine except for the idiots.

I go up to the Adirondacks for several weeks in the summer. No cell phone towers, no phone lines. Just nothing
