8. Thousand points of light...
He inherited the same speechwriters, I guess.

Poppy's speechwriters wanted to recapture the aura of Reagan's "Morning in America" -- a useless phrase, but at least everyone knows what it's supposed to mean.

Bush Sr.'s people came up with "A Thousand points of light..." whaaa? Points of WHAT? Why do I care how many points of light there are? Is this a planetarium?

In that fine tradition, Bush's speechwriters are trying to get "Bush is the Peace President" into the minds of the voters. We at least know what that means, but it contradicts everything that he's said and done. I suspect they'll move on to another useless phrase next week...

"I've been to war, and I've raised twins, and raising twins is harder."

Excuse me sir, but which war have you been to?

I believe he said this before Afghanistan or Iraq.
