HELP WANTED: I need someone from NYC to help organize DU gathering
nothing major, but just helping me to figure out meeting points for our group. Seems we have alot of folks in the NYC area and points beyond that want to come to the RNC protest on August 29th. I need someone familiar with the area around Penn Station since the station, my hotel and the potential starting spot are all probably going to be within a 10 block radius from that location.

PM me if you can help! Thanks!

1. You want to figure out a place to meet up before the march?
That's Thursday morning, right? That whole area is going to be locked down tight. You will be a few blocks from Macy's - I don't see how they can shut Macy's down.

2. The main march is on August 29th, the Sunday before the protest
although there will be plenty of events throughout the week. I'm organizing something official for that sunday

5. Almost all of East Midtown was shut down for the anti-war protests
and they closed the subways stations in that area too. They're supposedly trying to keep the protest activity to the West Side Highway or Central Park so that it'll be easier to control. It does seem impossible.

6. Madison Square Park might be a good meeting place
It's at 23rd & Fifth/Broadway - very walkable to Penn. It's open, they serve coffee, it's very pretty.
