My Dog Ate A Box of SOS Pads Yesterday
Yep, you read that title correctly.

We're having new cabinets put in the kitchen today and tomorrow. (They're in the garage, but i'm way to lazy and inept to put them in myself). So, we've purged all the existing cabinets and some of the boxes ended up in the basement laundry room. The dog basically lives down there, because our rec room is also in the basement, so when he's home alone he's down there, and when we're home, he's down there with us. (He sleeps in the bedroom with us, lest someone think we're mean to our doggie.)

Anyway, my wife calls me at work about 10am yesterday, and says "You know what this big doofus did today? He ate a box of SOS pads!" Tore the box to shreds, and ate at least 3 of the pads, and shredded the other ones in the box. Steel wool and blue powder detergent all over the basement floor.

What a dumbass!

1. Perhaps he needed some fiber in his diet?
Instinct tells animals to balance their nutrition.

2. Join the club
Our dog has eaten a bathroom scrubber sponge. The next day little green pieces of the scrubber came out the other end. Dog apparently not the least bit bothered by this. Go figure.

19. He'll clear it pretty quick..and the soap will give him runny ones
My dog ate a stuffed toy back when I first got him..it had little plastic beads in it...the next day as I was scooping up his mess in the yard...I saw these brown lumps with white plastic beads throughout...laughed my ass off.

7. Keep an eye on him.
It is possible for him to perforate his intestines or bowel.

My BIL ate a hamburger that he had made on the grill after scrubbing it with one of those copper wire brushes. A piece of the copper stuck on the grate and got into his burger. He ended up with a perforated bowel and emergency surgery.

Hope everything is okay with your pooch. They will eat just about anything, won't they?

11. These Are The "Soft" Version of the Pads
The steel wool on this version of SOS is the super fine wire. I think he'll be fine. Besides, i would think he'd puke them up if they were too course.

My wife's a teacher, so she's home all summer. She'll be around if he starts acting up, and our vet is a friend, so we can call him anytime.

Not too worried. He's a BIG dog. He'll pass everything through ok.

12. Vet Said No
He's not worried either. The dog is BIG dog. So, his "passages" are pretty big too.

ALso, as i mentioned in another post, these were the superfine scouring pads, because we have a stainless steel sink and stove. So, these are not course wire pads.

As a result of my job, i'm an expert on detergents, so i know that won't hurt him either. Might loosen his stool a bit for a couple of days.

Still, what a maroon!
