FREETOWN, Mass. -- A Freetown, Massachusetts couple heard their dogs barking, but when they went to see what had provoked the barking, they got the shock of their lives.
A 10-foot Burmese python was closing in on the dogs, ready for lunch.
Somehow, the snake got through the fence and was headed for the puppy, Abby.
"It had the smaller dog. She's only 7 months old. She had her backed up to the door of the kennel and she was going towards the dog. That's when my husband got there and that's why the dog was barking," explains Denise Massey, the dogs' owner.
The couple called the Freetown Police.
"Very strange call, we weren't sure what we were going to walk into. The homeowner called and said there was a snake there and it was a large boa constrictor and we assumed it was a small snake. When we got there, it was a large snake," says Officer Dan Bullock, Freetown Police Department.
