Grateful Dead Dick's Picks 32 is out.
I was hoping it would be Cornell 77, but I guess I will have to wait.

4. That second set has long been one of my favorites.
I have a skeezy SBD of it, taped by a guy who wasn't all that keen on making sure the levels were right...it's a pretty quiet tape.

However, it's a hot show and the "Playin'" alone is worth the price of admission. Good choice, GD Merch!

Still, It'd be nice to have ALL of the 82 summer tour in CD quality sound....apparently the Dead's vault has seriuos gaps, a lot of 82-84 shows are missing or stored on degenerating cassettes. I LOVE 82 shows. (my favorite years for the dead are 68-69, 74, 76, 82, and 93.) If we could get more from this tour, I'd shit the bed. especially the Iowa City show a couple days later....an AMaZING "Eyes" gets played at that show.....and my tapes are wasting away as I transfer them to CD.

Wow. what agreat choice for a Dick's Picks! MORE 82! More 82!

Rockin' The Rhein was pretty good, too. Pig sounded awfully fired up, for '72.

I'll tell ya, the show I've been listening to lately is one that I remember being absolutely INSANE--- and when I finally got a hold of it, some 13 years later (thanks to the hardworking folks at the internet archive..) It was one of those... "Holy shit! This wasn't just in my head!" (I mean, any more than anything else is or isnt...)

Anyway, Highly recommended. I put in a suggestion over at DNC (and not the Democratic national committee, no) that they consider it for a Dickus Pickus..

4-28-91 Sam Boyd Silver Bowl, Las Vegas, Nevada.
w/Carlos Santana sitting in on (a 17 MINUTE) Bird Song...
wa-hoo!

My favorite years? Well, Early 70s, also 77 of course, I like some super funky late 60s shows where the entire show seems to be wrapped inside a Viola Lee Blues, that kind of thing.. In terms of the shows I was at, I started going in 1985, but the "peak" years for me were 89-91. (Certain Henry J Kaiser shows in 1987 were somethin' else, too.) By 93 the vibe had turned a corner, and felt more than a little dark, in my opinion.

6. I was at the Vegas show, up from San Diego at the time.
I agree. That show was electrified, Vegas amplified, pure oxygen in the Casino stuff.

7. Awfully nice
Looks like a good second set. I've always been partial to playing in the band in particular.

10. Probably because most heads have quality recordings...
It'd be nice to have a CD of 5/8/77, but it's really easy to get a quality recording...

Check out www.gdlive.com for one...

vault recording!
