Poll question: DU Men: Can you grow a full beard?
I can grow most of a beard (a mean pair of muttonchops and a goatee), but I'm stuck with a hairless patch on either side of my mouth.

What about you?

4. I wish I couldnt
My beard is so tough that once an ex girlfreind went to touch it and a hair came out and left a splinter under her finger. It is extrememly painful once the hairs start to curl back towards the face that I go crazy every time I try to grow one and by the 2nd week I cant take it and off it comes. Right now I am trying to grow a Van Dyke as that is the last painful area to try for me to grow.

AS I hate shaving it is a real quandry, so I look half shaven all of the time.

6. Can't grow a connection between my goatee and 'stache either
I wonder what the reason for that is? Some kind of genetic phenotype (is that the right word?) perhaps?

I am on the less hairy side in comparison to other men.

13. I used to be that way
until i was 25. It still isn't very thick in that part, but it grows there now. I'm not too hairy either. I shave anyway, except on weekends.

14. I have had a full beard since 1979
I got evacuated off the beach during Huricaine David September 1979 and forgot my razor. The beard has been off only once since then for one week in 1981.

19. oddly, yes
half breed french/amerind. guess the whiteboy side gave me the green eyes & full facial hair, amerind lends an easy suntan. right now i have a pencil-line vertical lip>chin stripe, but am regrowing my archaic '80's rat-tail & will Prol 86 the stripe 1Ce the tail's long enough to braid.

Edited on Thu Jul-22-04 08:33 AM by jukes
for 10 years, french braided by my SO; until the confederate locals cawt up w/the fad. guess they thawt it wd lend authenticity to their chumpass "reenactments".

(aside: during the georgia flag controversy i wrote to gov purdue, sugg'ing that the state flag shd reflect southern heritage; the white sheet of surrender, & reminiscent of klan-robes. got no response.)

no guts (or too much class) for a mullet, but the rat-tail is dated enough i hope to retro it back into style.

that is bare when I don't shave for 2-3 days, but it would get covered up if I grew it out (which I won't ever do!)

32. ME CAVEMAN - ME GROW HAIR FAST
I shave every morning (but the stash and goatee) and by 6:00 pm it looks like I didn't shave that day.

Last winter I took an anniversary trip to Barbuda for a week and I did not shave. I came back to work for one day to see people's reactions. They could not belive it was only a week of no shaving. they thought I was on a island for a month.

37. Yeah but I prefer clean shaved
Though I realize that I do need to shave now. Most of my uncles have full beards, only one who doesnt is my oldest uncle other than that, pretty bearded bunch. Well thats my dad's side, and I think my mom's brother had one briefly, I dunno because he died when I was 1. Its best if I shave 2-3 times a week.

40. Yes. And it's like a bed of nails on my face.
It tears my poor wife's face to shreds, so I keep it down to the goatee only, and even that's tough on her.

But she likes the way it looks!
