How did you find DU?

What brought you here and when?

For me, a former coworker told me about the Conservative Idiot list and Buzzflash - and now I don't go through a day without either one.

I read the idiot list for a few weeks and then saw a hate mailbag, then started reading the articles. Then about a month ago, I started venturing into the forums here. (started in GD - that sometimes got me a little spooked...)
And here I am!!

What's your story?

9. I really don't remember.

Even thought it was just a few months ago. I think it may have stumbled upon DU doing a Google search of Democratic blogs and discussion boards. I'm glad I came, though! :)

10. This is embarrassing

I found DU from Free Republic. I used to work in a very conservative office and they would talk about FR a lot. I used to check it out every once in a while for "irratainment" and that's how I found DU.

17. Suprisingly,

Through FreeRepublic. I did a search on yahoo for something political and I clicked on a link that brought me to FR. I couldn't believe the posts on that site! I never posted there because I knew I would be banned on the first post.

I kept seeing posts quoting DU. I didn't know what DU meant. One day, someone posted the url for DU and I've been here ever since, lurking for 2 years.

I'd been surfing the Guardian talk boards a bit but really wanted a spot to talk politics that was U.S. and not overrun by mouth-frothing, screed-spewing, bible-thumping, conservative zealot loons. I was on the verge of giving up when I clicked on a DU link and found - well - home and a bunch of other links as well. Eureka! & alla dat.

I can't remember the web site I got it from, but it was one of those pinko, anti-war deals. I used to have a list of sites like that as long as my arm that I used to visit. Now I only come here most of the time.

28. RW nut (wasn't aware of term "freeper" then) calls me a...

..."commie pinko dirtbag" in the Formula One newsgroup (news://news.f1ngers.com/F1NGers) I hang out at. Just for the hell of it, I google "commie pinko dirtbag" and, among the many hits I find one Auntie Pinko. The rest, as they say, is history.

And in one of the messages someone referred to several other message boards including "du". I had no idea what the du stood for but I went on Google and searched for "du message board forum" and sure enough this came up. So, here I am!:D
