What are steamers?

1. A drink (defenition):

A hot drink available in many coffeehouses that does not contain coffee. Steamed milk with a shot of flavored syrup.

Not quite as common as Italian Soda.

Don't know exactly what it is, but from hearing it used I guess it is sexual, has to do with feces, and is REALLY gross.

10. Not a clam but not a mussel.

Sort of in between. They are definately not clams, but are not darkly colored like mussels and are also a little bigger. The shell is also a little more brittle from what I've seen.

Just my 2 cents.

A friend of mine manages a gourmet seafood shop and they order their steamers shipped in from New England for the locals with a taste for them. They are definately N0T clams. They are a different mollusk altogether. They look more like a gray mussel. Sorry, but I do know what I'm talking about here.
