According to Channel 7 here in DC, Expos have been told they won't be playing in Montreal next year and will likely be playing in DC http://www.wjla.com/

2. I really don't care for baseball, but it should be Virginia |
|
Virginia is one of the largest markets without a professional sports team.

3. Hope the Twins aren't next. |
|
Even though I don't care for baseball, I couldn't STAND Minnesota losing another professional sports franchise.
BUILD THE STADIUM!!!

4. Does This Mean BETTER ROADS In DC? |
|
Will we finally have roads in our NATION'S CAPITAL that I won't be ashamed to drive visitors on?
DC or Northern Virginia will be fine... but if it's northern VA, where will they play until a stadium is built? Will this speed up the possibility of getting Metro all the way out to Dulles?
-- Allen
Whatever the outcome, it will be good for the area. Even so, I'm still an Orioles fan.
P.S. What will the team be called? Will they keep their Expos name? Or will they change it like the Colts did when they sneaked out of Baltimore in the middle of the night.

..the power of Peter Angelos. He's on record as being adamantly against placing a team within the same time zone as Baltimore. Given the current state of MLB Administration, I wouldn't be surprised to see baseball capitulate. Plus, the traffic situation around DC is bad enough.
Granted, DC/NVA is the best general area for a team, there are other qualified candidates that don't have a major owner campaigning against.
I think Vegas is a particularly interesting idea. You do get a lot of tourists, meaning a home fan base would be minimal, but it also means the casinos could buy up tickets and give them away as comps and other prizes. You'd have much less of a problem selling seats than you would in Montreal.
I've also heard Mexico City, but I think that's unreasonable for travel purposes.
Portland wouldn't be a bad idea.

I would make the trip up 95 for a few games, especially when Mrs Zech to be comes over from Osaka to visit next spring :bounce:
So they must be close to making an official announcement in the near future?
