What Star Trek character sticks out in your mind?
What Star Trek character is the most unforgettable to you? Which one do you think of when someone says "Star Trek" to you?

The one that sticks out the most to me is Quark. The Ferengi are supposed to be antagonists before DS9 started, but Quark and his brother Rom made the Ferengis so cool, so neat, that they will always be an element of Trek that is remembered in my mind.

There are lots of other characters which tend to occupy the public eye, especially those of TOS, but it's when they can make a character like Quark seem so representative of the Trek universe that he becomes almost real.

4. Best regular: Spock. Best guest star: Matt Decker (William Windom)
The strongest TOS regular in my mind was Spock.

The best TOS guest star was Commodore Matthew Decker, played to perfection by William Windom.

20. The Doomsday Machine...great episode!
KIRK: Commodore, where is your crew?

DEKKER: (UPSET) I...beamed them onto the fourth planet.

SPOCK: Sir...there is no fourth planet.

DEKKER: (NOW CHOKED WITH SOBS) Don't you think I KNOW that? There was...BUT NOT ANYMORE! (NOW CRAZED) They say there's no Devil! But I've seen it! It's out there!

KIRK: What are you talking about, man!

McCOY: Jim! can't you see the man's in shock? (McCOY SEDATES HIM)

I believe Windom was nominated for an Emmy for that performance in "The Doomsday Machine". Great turn by him.

My favorite character will always be Kirk. Favorite guest? Robert Walker as "Charlie X".

Dinnertime:
Kirk: Bones, can you pass the salt please?
Bones: Dammit, Jim! I'm a doctor not a waiter!

Later back on the ship:
Kirk: He's sick Bones, can you help him?
Bones: Dammit, Jim! I'm a doctor not a... *sigh* ...ok, I'll see what I can do.

14. James T. Kirk
is Star Trek and the Enterprise. Much as I love Monsieur le Capitaine Jean-Luc Picard, there is only one Captain.

And I'll never forget the brain aneurysm I had after hearing Shatner sing "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds"
