Bands you know are good, but you just don't like |
|
I'll name two - Rush and Bruce Springsteen
Now I'll admit I know Rush are amazing musicians, and they play very well. I just dont get into them. But its all a matter of taste...
Same with Bruce - Ive seen him in concert and know he can rock a house down - but his music just doesn't do it for me.

Millions of fans can't be wrong, but I just hate his music. At least he supports the dems.

I tried to get into them, and I respect Eddie's guitar playing but I just can't stand them.

piss-poor songwriting, bad hair metal lead singers
eddie may play fast, but it's mainly just jerking off with his instrument and not anything innovative

12. OMG...there are only 3 guitarist that have totally changed the musical.... |
|
landscape. Chuck Berry,Jimi Hendrix, and Eddie...the 3 greatest and most inovative guitarist in rock history....come on dude...Eddie is one of the greatest ever...no doubt about it.

19. I agree with you in that I don't like Van Halen |
|
but I disagree about Eddie being just a musical masturbater. Eddie Van Halen has truly played a unique and innovative role on the guitar in the history of rock. Two hand tapping on the guitar without a pick became a major style because of him. I think he's a great musician, but I don't like the sound of his band. He should have chosen better musicians with which to surround himself and taken bigger chances in his choice of music.

9. Their 1st album is killer...one of the best ever. |
|
All the rest are pure crap except for a song here and there. When Sammy came on the scene...they were dead to me. Their 1st album is maybe the greatest album in rock history in my opinion...classic...not one bad song.

that guy's voice is oh-so-irritating!
A lot of prog rock is like that - great musicians with endless boring wanking or irritating vocalists...
Dave Matthews has really great musicians, but I just find him ho-hum....:-(

11. Geddy Lee has really improved as a singer over the years |

Though I was kind of fond of the shrieking and yelping of the early days myself. :)

|
Edited on Thu Jul-22-04 06:11 PM by jpgray
They're talented, but I would never put them on for enjoyment--only some feeling that I 'should' know about the music they made.
edit: And I think Dave Matthews is ten pounds of lousy in a five pound bag, but that's another story.

13. Most '70s progressive rock bands. |
|
On a purely technical level, those artists were all fine musicians and writers. For the most part, however, I find that genre pretentious, emotionally desiccated, and just plain dull.

They have great lyrics, but I am just NOT a fan of the punk sound. The same guitar riff, drum beat, and shouted vocals, over and over and over again...blech. (That's how I feel about all punk, not just BR.)

If I don't like a band, it's because I know they suck. Somebody mentioned Dave Matthews, who I don't like either. But I don't "know" he's good, in fact I know he isn't, and that's why I don't like him. His music is boring and his voice is ear poison.
Also, the people who don't like Springsteen and Elvis Costello are so not cool.

16. I love that prog rock... |
|
... however, stuff like the Doobie Brothers makes me want to toss my cookies. But I recognize that on some level they are talented.
Also Rush. Some call them the "thinking man's band". Now that's a fucking laugh :) I call them the "I think the vocalist is about to give me an aneurism" band.

Thanks a lot!
Just the mention of that horrid band makes me want to go and take a shower....YUCK!
And BTW guys did you know that the ugliest doobie was a consultant to bush regarding his missile defense crap in early 2001? (the guy with the long hair glasses and vile mutton chop sideburns and beard...he's really pale on top of all these other glorious physical characteristics)
I am not kidding...what his qualifications would be are a mystery!

... if you don't like Springsteen, what kind of elitist mofo are you? :)
Even if he did say "I got a 69 Chevy with a 396, fuelie heads and a Hurst on the floor".
How can he be expected to know that fuelie heads only fit the small block engine, and the 396 is a big block ? :)

Some of their stuff is okay, but a lot of it is bland pop.
And I can't stand Paul Carrack.
Did I say that already?
