Woman puts rare coin in meter
Edited on Thu Jul-22-04 11:36 PM by TXlib
JOHANNESBURG, S. Africa (Reuters) -- A South African woman mistakenly plunked a 100-year-old gold coin worth more than $1,000 into a parking meter while shopping without her glasses, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

"I can't believe I could have done something like that," said the woman, who asked not to be identified.

The woman said she also believed she had spent an 1890 sovereign, worth a small fortune, as small change, the Cape Argus newspaper said.

The woman inherited the gold coins from her mother, but they became mixed up with loose coins she kept in a container and were transferred to her purse by mistake.

She told the newspaper she did not realize she had the coins with her and was not carrying her spectacles. She said she thought she put a Kruger sovereign, worth about 7,000 rand ($1,100) in a parking meter in Paarl outside Cape Town.

Too bad. So sad. Wear your fucking glasses next time, and how about not mixing the rare coins with the everyday change?!

Such slipshod carelessness pisses me off...

5. No, I'm not stressed.
I just have NO sympathy whatsoever for people who are so incredibly careless. Whether it's putting a $1000 gold coin in the parking meter, or letting a diaperless, un-potty-trained 2-year-old drink chocolate milk from an open cup on a brand-new $1000 couch, other peoples' inability to think ahead and plan to prevent disasters really irritates me.

4. Yeah, at least she's trying to pay her taxes
Shrub and Dick would probably try to rob the meter, one way or the other. Especially if they knew it had Senior Citizens' money in it...

6. Funny indeed...
HA!

Well, too bad for her, she should have put those coins in someplace other than her fucking purse. Wait, let me take out these Confederate Bills from my wallet before I try to buy a fucking C2 at the cola machine.

Oh, sorry, she's old so we have to forgive her. Whatever, stupidity knows no age.
