I'm worried
about the DNC and the safety of everyone who will be there. Will seems to be more concerned about the anti-abortion storm troops, but I think Boston is a sitting duck for terrorists next week. I warned him but got the usual "don't worry Mom" response. I hope he reads this! WARNING AGAIN WILL!

1. Don't worry Raven
I think the Repubs would rather die than have anything happen to the Democratic Convention. Why?

Because it would show they have NOT made America safer.

Because it would create a backlash, or sympathy vote for the Democrats.

Because an attack by a DOMESTIC terrorist would reflect badly on the Right Wing.

I'll bet the security will be extra tight and no harm will come.

I know you're a Mom and worry comes with the territory, but I'm trying to give you reasons to worry less....

4. You know, Matt...
the funny thing is that his Dad will be there and when I met him, he had just come back from the Chicago DNC where he was the youngest delegate in the Wallace challenge delegation and where he had to ride through all the demonstrations...deja vu.

6. There Will Be Plenty of Boston Police Officers Around
Unfortunately they will be picketing the convention, not protecting it.

5. Gotta agree with Will on this one...
I'm always more afraid of the right-wing nutjobs here in the US (i.e. the anti-abortion shock troops) than I am of "furrin terraists". And think of it this way...if something does happen 2 of the 3 people who would have to take the blame are repubs - Romney and Shrub. They aren't going to let something happen that could potentially embarass either of them.

Darn shame I couldn't afford to go to Boston...I woulda made Will a good body guard. :)

7. Well the mailboxes are gone so all should be fine...
In all seriousness though, I think this administration will make darn sure to keep it as safe as possible from outside attacks. Can't have anyone thinking that they may not be up to the job. There may be some babydolls thrown around smeared in red paint, but I don't think there will be a strong presence. :hi:

8. I will keep my head down
Joe Galloway reported from the Valley of Death in the Ia Drang in 1965 and survived to tell an important tale. If a journalist isn't willing to put his/her ass on the line to get a story out, that journalist isn't worth very much.

9. Jesus! I'll bet you never thought you'd say that about
something going on in your own back yard! Oh well, we're safer, right?
