Quite Possibly The Most Cluttered House In The World...
http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?s=e9744d33e932f0de0ec1d35d23523a44&threadid=830487&perpage=40&pagenumber=1

Here are a few photos ... but wait... there are MORE at the URL above. The author even describes each photo and gives a little history about why and how his crazy mother does the things she does and collects the things she collects.

This is NOT my house or anyone that I know. But looking at these photos makes me want to go tidy up right NOW!

1. A friend of mine sent me that link.
That person needs professional help:

First, house cleaners. Second, psychiatric.

2. Looking at those pictures makes me feel a heck of a lot better about
the current condition of my house. Is that the guy with the mom who ebays for all sorts of silly stuff and then leaves the packages piled up everywhere? :hi:

3. Does that person have a calendar fetish??
I don't understand how people can live that way...I personally can't sleep if there is a stack of papers left on my desk. I guess I have the opposite problem.

Actually, I know of a Dr.'s house around here that looks similar to that. His wife is addicted to HSN big time.

But there are 10 rooms in this big old box of a house, and we're both packrats.

9. Same here...we both do it...but I'm motivated now to throw away SOMETHING
today.

I pledge to throw away at least ONE THING every day from my packratted collection of junk. (I'll try anyway.)

13. a friend had a grandmother
who couldn`t throw away newspapers or any magazine. her house was stacked 3-4 foot high with them and there were narrow walkways thru the house. in fact another lady up the street from her also had a house full -i mean full-of newspapers etc etc...maybe it was something in the water...

15. I moved about 3 months ago....
We went from 6 rooms, an attic and a basement to 5 rooms and a basement. Three of the rooms we have now are at least 1/2 the size of their counterparts in the old apartment.

I sent one full truck to Catholic charities.

I sent one full truck to a woman's shelter.

I had a yard sale.

I brought one truck to the "bulk item drop" our town had.

11 boxes of boxes and VHS went to the town library.

and I rented a 6-yard dumpster which I filled.

The rule is: (other than photographs) If you haven't used it in a year.... get rid of it one way or another!

20. I have a friend
who is extremely messy that way. This friend actually doesn't clean the litter box and her cats poop all over the floor (carpet covered in newspaper). Old food left out, dirty clothes strewn everywhere, boxes all over the place, etc.

You wouldn't think it to look at her. She dresses very well and is smart, funny, etc. but don't go knocking on her door unless you want a rude awakening as to what she's really like inside.

I get messy, I'll admit, especially with shoes, and I'm a packrat and I have a few boxes left unopen because of the move 2 weeks ago but I've never been that bad, and I threw away a lot of junk prior to the move.

21. I've Been In That House! Or One EXACTLY Like It!
Edited on Fri Jul-23-04 12:20 PM by Beetwasher
I'm not kidding and not exaggerating. Where is it located? Is it on Long Island? I didn't want to register at the site to get the details.

On edit: Oh, you don't need to register! Anyway, it's not my friends house, but his house (or his mom's rather) was exactly like that!

Both my husband I are pack rats. Our house has been in a state of stacked up crap since we got married six years ago. We are going to change....we both promise, since we are redoing the inside of our house.

27. that's nothing
spent years doing home health visits...usually very bright women have homes like that....and depression babies.

Worst was three dead cats buried in rubble and 6 inches of filth on carpet on small path from chair to toilet.
