Police Stop Skateboarder - On GERMAN AUTOBAHN

BERLIN (Reuters) - Shocked German motorists found themselves sharing a motorway with a Swedish vacationer traveling by skateboard until police prevailed upon him to seek safer passage home, authorities said Friday.

"He said he was down to his last two euros and couldn't afford a train ticket," said a spokesman for police in the West Palatinate region of southwest Germany. "The man said he didn't think using the autobahn would be a problem."

The 38-year-old said he had been on holiday in the Balkans and was hoping to borrow money from friends in Berlin to get home. Police stopped him near Winnweiler, several hundred kilometers southwest of the German capital.
