3. He held out for three day....I do not know if I could.... |

And the English were not being gentle with him. Try the rack some time, see how long YOU NOT TALK.
In some ways Guy Fawkes day (November Fifth) is a bank handled complement to Guy. HE held out for three days, more than enough time for his fellow conspirators to escape (They did not, instead tried again to kill King James I). When he as to be drawn and quarter, he insisted on walking up the stairs himself (With two broken legs, broken during the torture) nd than when the noose was put around his neck to "draw him" he jumped (Remember his two broken legs) and snapped his own neck. The drawing and quartering was still performed on his body, but he was dead, he denied his executioners the pleasure of seeing him in agony.
As a whole a class act, yes he attempted to blow up the King and Parliament, which was treason, but he was of the opposition to James and his fellow Protestants. Once captured he acted to help his co-conspirators to escape AND denied them the pleasure of drawing and quartering him.
Thus why the Penney is thrown at his effigy, you tipped the executioners if you are to be hanged or your head was to be cut off (To ensure a clean kill) but you did not tip for being drawn and quartered (The purpose of Drawing and Quarter was NOT to have a clean kill). He earned his own execution tip....
