I need help with my Dells sound card
Edited on Sat Jul-24-04 04:30 AM by VoteDemocratic2004
I installed wifi and it knocked out my sound card.

I downloaded a fix/patch called 55WUA12i.EXE and that helped out with my plug and play problem.

Can someone please help me locate that file.

I am going nuts right now. :grr:

1. I'm confused.
"I downloaded a fix/patch called 55WUA12i.EXE and that helped out with my plug and play problem."

I googled that and didn't have any matches. That's kinda scary.

"Can someone please help me locate that file."

Did you want help finding the file you downloaded? It sounds like you ran something so I assume you found that file to run it.

What file do want help locating?

Also with these kind of problems we need more info to help...

What OS? 2000 Pro? XP? ME? Linux? FreeBSD?
What WiFi card?
What sound card?
Connection type? DSL? Cable? Dial-up?
Do you use a Router? If so what type?

It makes it really hard to help with computer problems with such limited info. I would post everything you know about your hardware and software in the future to get better help. It's easier to disregard irrelevant info then guess variables.

I would love to help I just need more to go on.

3. I have a Dell Inspiron 1100
When I first got this computer the sound card wasn't working so I downloaded a patch that fixed the sound card.
I installed Wifi and it knocked the sound card out and I can't deal without being able to play music.

The patch that i downloaded was in on in the original message.

Any help would be greatful.

I have windows XP.

5. Sorry for not offering real help!
But I would suggest hitting up a windows-centric board. I would suggest.

These guys know tons about windows. As I said, I wish I could help. But I can't help.

And list as much info as possible. They freak if you just have a "problem". And you should identify yourself as female.

They are much cooler to:

cd /usr/bin/girl/

4. Macs Suck..
If you work in IT..

I charge $40 bucks per hour to fix PC's. Stupid shit too. 95% of my work is virus and spyware related. I charged a lady $120 bucks the other day to clean a PC that cost $699. What a spendy e-mail and internet box. A cheap eMac would have been cheaper and she could have gone for years without anything bad happening. Total cost of ownership is lost on the masses.

I don't really care. Apple makes money. I get a good computer and make money from people that buy a not so good computer.

And Linux rules if you like to read!

6. I do the same thing on the side...
Don't get much business, thanks to corporate jerk giants like CompUSA and Best Buy.

And if Macs or Linux was the monopoly platform, you can bet your sweet bippy that others would find and exploit weaknesses. Microsoft just makes life easier for malcontents. O8)

Think of it this way. People like us help the economy. CompUSA and Best Buy fleece their workers so their CEOs can afford a gold hairbrush with inlaid diamonds.
