"Today is Saturday Eddie."
Many times today I have said to myself; "Today is Saturday Eddie." Tomorrow all day long I will be reminding myself; "Today is Sunday Eddie." Sometimes I find it necessary to check my pill box and calender to make sure I am telling Eddie the truth.

Now and then I tell myself an outright lie, for instance; "Today is the fifteenth of April Eddie." I might tell me that in the middle of winter even. I think it is because I always worried about the fifteenth of April; it being tax day and all.

One year I hustled my butt preparing my tax return and dropped it off at the post office just beating the tax deadline. Later at work I bragged to Dean, the kid working for me; "Well Dean, I just finished my tax return and got it into the mail on time." He looked at me said "Ed today is the fourteenth of March."

Yesterday, Friday I called an old friend in South Carolina. During the course of our conversation I had reason to ask him what day was it.

I feel so stupid and old and useless.

"Today is Saturday Eddie." I think.

1. "Today is Saturday, Droopy."
That means tomorrow I have my one day off to do whatever I like. It's kind of depressing working every Saturday. It's such an excellent day. Perhaps the best day of the week. Mosty people are off work having fun, or maybe catching up on some household chores. Not me. It's just another day at work. And to make matters worse I have to work the night shift so I can't even enjoy myself after work. Woe is me.

Good luck on remembering what day it is.

When I have a significant amount of time off I don't even try to keep track of the days. If I need to know what day it is, it usually takes some time thinking about it and maybe digging up a calender. And you know what? I like it that way. When I retire I will probably just forget what day it is all together. Relatives will have to call me and remind me of upcoming holidays.

3. aren't you like retired?
KG that is a tough question. Yes I am retired. I have been medically retired for eleven years. In my working years time and days were of no interest to me. In the fishing industry every day is Monday, a new day another day to make a strike; scratch out a living. It was a lot more fun than retired--for sure. Sigh.
