HUGE BRAWL: Yankees/Red Sox
A-Rod and Veritek went at it at the plate. Sturtz went after Kapler and got blasted by Nixon. Big mess.

2. Veritek belted A-Rod, picked him up and slammed him
and then the benches cleared.

Sturtz is about to take the mound again. Dollars to donuts says he goes headhunting, and we'll be off to the races again.

Damn I love Yankee/Bosox games for this reason
I'm a Giants fan, but we're missing rivalries over here. Giants/Dodgers games are always too family friendly.

Go Sox!

36. The problem is that RBIs are meaningless as a statistic
And your front office knows that. Ortiz is on the team because he's a common type of player (high OBP, high SLG 1B/DH type) that comes relatively cheap, and he happens to be one of the high end (in terms of talent) in that group. Manny, on the ot, is an elite version of the same type of player, and (while not worth the $20m check handed out to him by management a few years ago) is worth a significant chunk of change (more than you would pay, say, a Kevin Millar-type player).

46. He may have been worth it *at the time*
As that was the winter of crazy deals -- it was within a year or two of A-Rod's Texas signing. The problem is that it's not a smart deal in that Manny is the type of player (big slugger) that wears down quickly. Spotting him at DH for about 30-40 games a year is a wise move, and one that will help down the road (especially considering the fact that you probably gain a little defensively), probably adding 2-3 years to his career, IMO.

I think Manny is probably the third best hitter in baseball right now (behind Pujols and... that guy in San Francisco, I forget his name :) ), and is definitely worth a nice chunk of change.

Sorry -- this type of thing is my *real* specialty. :)

I don't think they should have sent him out to pitch after the fight in the first place. His emotions were running too high and he needed to go cool off.

However, I don't know a pejorative term for someone who can't fight that won't offend somebody....pussy...no...faggot...no....punk....no...no matter how I put it it will offend someone.

Somehow non-pugilist just doesn't get the point across.

However, I'll stop though. I didn't mean to offend you.

(on edit) I don't mean to use those words, but when you think of common alternatives for bitch in that context, then those are the ones most people would come up with....I'm not trying to offend someone, just work out a better word for next time....which I obviously didn't

...okay...taking foot out of mouth now.

I'm trying to think up a word for someone that won't fight that isn't offensive and having the same problem you are. Maybe wimp...not sure if that has any connotations I don't know about. Or maybe coward. :-)

55. No doubt
Nomar was a bitch during that series a few weeks ago. Jeter is a true champion, on and off the field.

95. Nice comeback
Congrats to all the Sox fans. You just beat maybe the best reliever in the game. Hey, if your gonna beat a team like that might as well beat the best they got.

Enjoy the win!! It was well-deserved.

What a great, crazy game.

98. That's your opinion
I said maybe the best reliever in the game.

Rivera, Gagne, Hoffman are the three best. On any given game, that order may change but not those three names.

100. That's how I feel
The Red Sox won yes but it was another classic Yankees-Red Sox game.

Just like a few weeks agao when Manny put the Sox up then the Yanks came back...

No matter who won that game it was still classic.
