Poll question: Best Joni Mitchell Album
I go for Hejira every time. A work of real genius.

1. This was supposed to be a poll, but some weird glitch happened
and now I can't edit it. Bizarro.

2. I've always been partial to Blue ...
but it is a hard choice. I think it might be better to say favorite recording of each of Joni's different periods of differing styles. I love her jazz recordings.

Thanks for the help! People can sample some of it here.

From "Song For Sharon":

A woman I knew just drowned herself
The well was deep and muddy
She was just shaking off futility
Or punishing somebody
My friends were calling up all day yesterday
All emotions and abstractions
It seems we all live so close to that line
and so far from satisfaction

Dora says "Have children"
Mama and Betsy say "Find yourself a charity
Help the needy and the crippled or put some time into Ecology"
Well there's a wide wide world of noble causes
And lovely landscapes to discover
But all I really want right now
Is find another lover

Miles of Aisles.

I am partial to Don Juan's Reckless Daughter and Night Ride Home. She wrote and continues to write many good songs.
