2. Daily Show and NOW w/Bill Moyers...

... Those are the only 2 I make a point of watching.

I'll sometimes watch some CSPAN or one of the cable news networks... sometimes watch The Practice, ER, Whose Line, or Letterman (all shows my g/f watches and I find entertaining enough to sit in front the TV w/her.. ;))

3. I Am A Proud Watcher of Crap!
During the day, I watch CourtTV. I started watching it because I cannot do soaps, and kept watching it because some of the commentators are intelligent. They also don't shy away from when the system fucks up and gives a lot of These Are Your Rights type information.

I watch all the flavors of Law and Order, as well as ER, NYPD Blue, The Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy and The Daily Show. Of all of these, my heart belongs to The Daily Show.

history channel
discovery
tlc
then I flip through the "news" channels

I'd watch movies but I really prefer letterbox so the movie channels don't attract me.

Oh, and Striperella. On TnT? TNN? It's a suprisingly funny satire in the same vein as The Tick. only sexier :)

12. My viewing habits
Generally I am a late night TV watcher, and that's only because I have a small TV beside my computer. But, here we go:

In broad terms I prefer animated television and documentaries to just about anything else and I loath sitcoms (unless they are British) and police shows (except Monk and Keen Eddie).

Stuff I actually go out of my way to watch:

Family Guy (M-Th) 11:30PM
The Adult Swim block on Sunday nights from 11PM-1AM
South Park
Father Ted
Chef
Smallville (new episodes only)
Keen Eddie
Chapelle's Show
The Daily Show

Stuff I watch when my brain doesn't want to work anymore:

Wild Discovery (deep sea animals, insects, and reptiles are my favorite)
History Undercover
C-Span (for background noise while I work)
Discovery Wings Channel (during lunch hour)
Reruns of Star Trek
Monk

in no particular order, I usually make a point of watching:

Smallville
Gilmore Girls
Charmed
Reba
Almost anything on PBS
CSI, both flavors
BBC News

If I have access to cable at someone else's house
Food Network - anything
HGTV - like the decorating more than the gardening.
AMC - love a good old movie
Discovery Channel - I'm a nerd, OK?

That's about it. Other than the news in the AM while I eat breakfast, I try to stay away from daytime TV. It's brainless.

edit: Oh yeah, Judging Amy! I love that show.

15. We're a Neilsen family this week!
I always wondered how people became Neilsen families...now I know...the Neilsen Corp. sends you a postcard 6 weeks out, a letter 5 weeks out saying you'll receive a "long distance phone call" in a few days, then a phone call despite your presence on the state do-not-call list, then they send you a postcard explaining that you'll get a "red, white and blue Priority Mail envelope" in a few days, then the actual envelope with the diaries in it, and then a phone call and a postcard to confirm you got everything. (I suspect in a week or two we'll get another phone call and postcard asking if we mailed the things in.)

Oh, and we got $15 in cash in the priority-mail envelope.

In other words, they spam you into submission.

Anyway, sorry for the brief hijack.

This week, we've been watching a lot of news and C-SPAN. I know that sounds like typical making-yourself-look-better stuff, but with the crap hitting the fan re: *, Niger, Uranium, even Republicans ripping neocons a new one, well, that's what we've been watching.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer in syndication, too.

Normally, I watch Buffy, Angel, Scrubs, 70s Show, Good Eats (I have a weird crush on Alton Brown) and a lot of CNN, Food Network and Weather Channel.

22. On various channels:
PBS: Nova, Frontline, P.O.V., Wide Angle (excellent program on foreign affairs--the Al Jazeera doc was the first of the new season), Mystery, sometimes the American Experience, travel shows such as Rick Steves' Europe or Globe Trekker

HBO: The Sopranos, Oz, Six Feet Under

Turner Classic Movies, if there's something I want to see

Ditto the Sundance channel and whoever else is showing good movies

The mysteries on BBC America, but I can't stand either Changing Rooms or So Graham Norton, which they seem to run incessantly

The History Channel International, a digital station that goes far beyond the "Hitler Channel" orientation of the other History Channel.

The Daily Show

The Simpsons and King of the Hill

Sometimes Law and Order, but that's really the only network show that I even think of watching. I haven't liked a sitcom since, oh, the early years of Murphy Brown.

I am completely indifferent to all cooking, gardening, and redecorating shows, even though I have no objection to any of these activities and actually enjoy cooking.

Turner Classic Movies. I especially love their theme programming, such as their recent Bollywood festival and the series of pre-code Hollywood films.

"Now" with Bill Moyers

"As Time Goes By" (on PBS)

"EastEnders" (on PBS)

"Mystery!"

"Masterpiece Theater"

C-SPAN, depending on who's on.

Classic Arts Showcase

Lots of international programming on MHZ

And when they're not in reruns, I watch "Friends," "West Wing," and "Everybody Loves Raymond."
