5. I know, but there's different guitars for different jobs
There's Ibanez for sharp sounds, Fender/Gibson for bluesy (I loved my explorer, but not enough to get rid of it for an Ibanez RG770), there's ESP with EMGs for crunch, etc, etc

18. if you were asking me, then no, it's not mine, but
I've always favoured Gibsons over Fenders. In my opinion, Fenders make too many cheap low end guitars to be truly favourable. Like Porsche v Ferarri, if that makes any sense. Porsche have the Boxster v Ferrari's Modena on the low end. Or if you will, Cannondale v Duratec or Bianchi..

well... the pic of the strat kinda sucks... but the sucking ends at the picture, the best one i could find was at elderly... the wood grain didnt pixilze right in this pic.

wouldnt trade the gibson for anythin though... put p-100s in that thing instead of the p-90s... its mine! you touch-a, you die!

oh yea, i put noiseless in the strat too... very nice.

However, i would never buy anything from Fender again. They are big on exporting american jobs.

well, that wouldnt be so bad, i played a few of em, and maybe its just cause everyone talks em up so much, but i wasnt too impressed, i mean, they weretn bad, but i wasnt blown away. then again, i was only playing what i could afford, so... i didnt get up above the CE 22 and similar models.

They're small, heavy, and solid, and that's just strange. I like holding a light, lively instrument . . . it's like holding someone I love.

23. It is the best all round rock and blues guitar, it's true
I still have one for my occasional "Spanish Castle Magic" moods, even though I now play mostly acoustics. It's hard to play fingerstyle jazz and bossa novas on a Strat. I recommend a phenomenal German hand-made guitar by the Lakewood company, with unbelievable tone and playability. At a price of about $2 grand, it's made with more precision and better woods than many instruments costing twice the price.

The "strat" on the left is a 1987 St. Blues by Strings and Things workshop in Memphis, loaded with EMG SA pickups. Pretty much like a strat except with a thicker body and binding. That ax and the Marshall next to it form an extreme blues/rock tonal attack.

The 12 string acoustic is a Hofner, I believe from the mid 70's.

edit to add stage shot.

29. I have one of those & a Telecaster...
...and this little beaut from 1971:

I wouldn't go so far as to say the Strat was the only one worth considering, though it has been my main live instrument since 1997. The Les Paul RULES in the studio, where the Fenders can often be too thin sounding to suit me.

30. Strats. zzzzz....
They're the only guitar worth considering if you want to sound like every other guitarist out there. Perhaps you could be truly original and run it through a Marshall :P

There are so many high-end makers like Sadowsky that make guitars superior to Fender. Guitarists are too conservative.

Try a Klein guitar:

31. Snoozecaster
Too ubiquitous for my tastes.

And besides (and I know you're really gonna hate this, but to each his own) the three most overrated guitarists, IMHO, are all associated with Strats.

That would be Clapton, Vaughn and yep, Hendrix.

It's probably the 'only' guitar I would never choose to own. I want a Tele with humbuckers next.

a cat with it's tail in the garbage disposal... :)

Now here is what a REAL guitar looks like.

Mine is a 1979 with silver instead of gold hardware. Best playing guitar I've ever had, and I've had lots, including strats, teles, ricks et.al.

But Gibbies are waaaaaaay overpriced. Goes for their acoustics too. In fact, almost anything with Gibson on the headstock is gonna be overpriced.

that I tweaked from the POS board I got from the factory into a sweet axe. However, I would like to have another axe (preferably with some humbuckers and a rosewood top - no Gibs, too $$$)just so I can have another sound at my disposal. Mind you, this is coming from a living-room rockstar.
