5. Boring
I'm a bicycle enthusiast.

Good for Lance. Bad for the sport.

I haven't watched a minute of the Tour this year ... sport is not compelling if there isn't any serious competition.

Sport is entertainment ... if it isn't funny, informative, or dramatic ... it isn't interesting.

More American rah-rah is all I'm seeing about this race in 2004.

Lance has become a self-absorbed celebrity. Too bad.

8. LOL... Gotta remember that Wheaties thing.............

Yeah, Lance has become kind of a primadonna, and he HAS acted like an asshole at times. But the guy is GOOD, and folks hate people who succeed. He's jumped through all their hoops (drug testing) and has come through. I'm pulling for Lance purely out of anger at the media who has repeatedly invaded his life, his privacy, etc...........

7. Baloney.
I was pulling for Tyler Hamilton and I am currently very disenchanted with Armstrong for reasons that have nothing to do with your rant, and I still say baloney on this.

Every single day of this Tour offered up some serious excitement and competition. Nevermind that any serious cyclist and cycling fan knows that there is more than the GC to the Tour de France.

12. Speaking of Tyler, heard any news about his injuries?
He abandoned, saying the pain in his back was bad and he couldn't get his legs going like he wanted.

I'm worried. After last year, I'm afraid Tyler maybe broke his back and tried to continue.

Those wet early stages took a heavy toll this year.

13. No broken bones.

Definitely some serious internal bruising, but I've heard nothing more about possible ligament issues. The word from Tyler is that it wasn't pain, but the fact that he uses his back so much when climbing. Apparently, he was ordered to stop if he couldn't keep up, as the team worried that he was injured worse than he let on.

Last I heard, he was focused on being healed up and ready to go for the Olympics. If that's true, I suspect he might have a go at the Vuelta. Would be great to have a US winner in Spain the same year Lance wins his sixth, so here's to Tyler's health!

:)

14. That's good news!
And it would be nice to see him on the podium in Spain, AND Athens.

Tyler should have Timex for a sponsor, because they both can "Take a lickin' and keep on tickin'..."

9. My cousin's a serious cyclist too and thinks Lance is great!
some people claim it is boring to have him win all the time, etc. But we think it's great, especially him setting a record, battling cancer, and everything. Yeah, his story might be the classic american story, but that doesn't make it unimportant. He really is a hero and it's amazing to watch him pedal to victory when you know the odds he was up against earlier in his life.

10. What a great finish to a great Tour! Congratulations Lance
For those of you who didn't have someone piss in your cheerios this morning, I hope you enjoyed the finish of the Tour. Lance is truly amazing.

The sprint to the finish was exciting. The Green Jersey contest almost needed a photo finish ruling. Young Voelcker deserves huge kudos for his guts and determination. Jan Ulrich reminds of a heavyweight prize fighter who never quits. Prost to you Jan!
Jose Azevedo was one of Lance's great wingmen.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I've put more miles on my bike this week than I have in awhile, which means quite a few folks have been treated to the sight of my "Anyone But Bush" shirt. For that motivation alone, I'm grateful.

France was a temendous host, although the over exhuberant and sometimes intoxicated fans going up the Alps(seeming to be mostly Americans no doubt) concerned me more than a little, and was probably a wee bit dangerous. Oh well, c'est la vie.
Seeing the flags of the many countries together for one event is nice to see in and of itself.

Six Cheers for Lance and the entire US Postal Team!
:yourock: :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast: :yourock:

Ok, we've got the convention next, then the Olympics, and then we elect our new President. What a Summer.
