1. I prefer natural....and have gone that way most of my life.....to

the chargrin of mother and some bosses....the one who made the most fuss....dressed and looked like a whore...and she was giving me advice on dressing.....

I thought, I hope you look in a mirror with that advice....

Make up looks nice...but it is messy...and gets on everything...and in the summer when you sweat....you can't just take your sleeve and dry your face..although I have and then realize I have makeup on....

2. I don't wear makeup, ever.

My woman says she prefers it that way and I believe her, since I feel the same way about her.

Another thing I would like to point out is that not wearing makeup has significant advantages when it comes time for being 'intimate.' I dont' know what they're doing to cosmetics these days but I can't imagine that any of them taste better than no makeup.

3. I rarely use it anymore.

OK, I farm so I am out of the house with no bra, wrinkled T shirt, jeans, boots, no makeup and a bandana on my head every morning. BUT I do not ever go anywhere else like that.

With the onset of adult acne I had to start wearing some base but before that it was eye makeup and that was it. Now I only wear it all when I perform or go out.

Funny article. I most likely would never really think about it except it is fun to do! When I go out I love to take the time, it is like an art project and even if my husband does not notice, other guys sure do and that can make you feel like a million bucks.

Every once in awhile I do have fun doing the whole thing from the ground up, but then after a couple of hours I really want to rub my eyes (I'm a compulsive eye rubber) and I can't. :(

I wore it today for a graduation party and ended up smudging some on MrG's white shirt. Another negative to make up wearing.

So unfortunately, I don't have any of the little critters any more, though I do have four dogs!

In my case, the circles seem to be a mass of tiny wrinkles because when I pull on the skin, it does appear lighter. I've tried all kinds of expensive undereye creams, gels, and serums with no success. I read online that Preparation H can help but that the formula we get in the US doesn't have the key ingredient in it -- that I'd have to get it from Canada. Who knows if that's even true?

I don't mind looking my age -- almost 49 -- but I don't like looking tired or sick! I'm not one for surgery -- if such a corrective operation even exists -- so the simplest solution seems to be concealer.

17. Did you hear about the former rocket science who invented

a comfortable high heel shoe? It's 2-1/2 inches and costs something like $125. You can only get them at Nordstrom's. The guy lives in San Antonio, I believe, and I read about the shoe in the paper. Women who have worn them swear they could practically do a 10-K in them! I don't spend that much on shoes and don't crave heels that bad but I thought it was interesting. The guy said he's the center of attraction at any party as soon as he mentions his invention!

7. I like makeup

For years and years while I was working I regularly wore makeup every day. Of course, I was raised you don't leave the house without putting your face on.

After I had surgery in 94 and started down the rode of becoming disabled I started to wear it less often. Now that I'm no longer working there are days when I wear it and days when I don't. The days I do wear it are usually days where I need to run to town. I have all the time in the world so I can take several hours if I want to. At times I use it to pass the time and play with it like a little girl would.

Currently I'm on a BurtsBees kick. When fiance was taken by ambulance up to OKC the gift shop across the street from the hospital carried some of their products. My mom-in-law-to-be and I bought all they carried and we would pass the time making each other up. I've now ordered some more of their products online and I'm liking the way it makes my skin feel. I also like the fact I don't look as made-up with their products as I did with the others I used to use. I look more rested and more natural.

Guys do notice if you aren't wearing makeup.

I look fine either way, but it helps a little I think (and I NEED my tinted sunscreen base). I don't do it for men so much as for myself. I feel better when I feel my best both internally and externally. Perhaps it could be argued that I've been culturalized to believe I need a little makeup to achieve this, and it's probably true to a degree, but it doesn't change the inner me either way and that's what matters the most. I wouldn't want to be judged negatively because I didn't fall into society's acceptable definition of beauty, neither would I want to be perceived as somehow inherently less evolved if I do. :D

9. I really like Lauren Hutton's face disk. One disk does it all lips, cheeks

eyes the whole shot quick and easy. Easy to pack. I like her aqua press too. You can get refills for the disk so you do not have to buy a whole disk if you only need one refill. I can put my make up on in less than 7 minutes and look fine.

It's been a good 15 years since I wore makeup. And I like it that way. I've been a tomboy all my life, and only started wearing makeup at the polite request of my first husband and his family, who looked askance at going bare. :eyes:

No more worry about accidentally rubbing my itchy eye (allergies).

My last husband, when we started dating, asked me to leave the makeup behind. He said he liked looking at the real me. He liked looking at the real me until I hit 40; then the real younger women looked better, lol. Ah well.

I left off covering the gray a few years before that, too.

I am who I am. I didn't choose my features, skin tone, etc., before birth; at least, I don't remember doing so. At this point in my life, I'll go with the friends who value who I am more than how decorative I am. I'm comfortable with being a middle-aged tomboy. If that term even applies anymore. I learned it from my mother, who was eternally frustrated with the daughter who, even as a toddler, never wanted to be dressed up like a doll.

I don't mind my gray at all. When I was a teenager, I looked older than I really was...early, lush development. When I was in my 20s, people assumed I was older than I was because of my kids' ages. In my 30s I was "younger." Until I went gray, now I'm older again. Apparently not too many 40 somethings let the gray show. ;-)

My first ex MIL was/is a cosmetologist; she was always working on me. She never gave up, lol.

Now my grown sons spend more time grooming than I do. Not that I don't like to be clean and neat; I'm just really efficient, I guess. :evilgrin:

At night, sometimes I go all out and wear the full '60s-style eye, liquid liner on the top lid, black mascara, light shadow.
