Am I just a glutton for punishment?

4. I have no problem with GD except for....
...the post from the "more liberal than thou" types who seem to have no understanding of the nuances of politics.

5. ding ding!
We have a winnah!

Yeah, I had to strip a good friend of mine of her liberal epaulets. Just not sufficiently liberal enough! Opposing repubs is not enough - you have to equalize their evil with Democrats, lol. It's ALL THE SAME EVIL when you are to the right of Karl Marx.

7. you know I think I was right when I told a friend of mine
that some people all they care about is personality. They'll tell you, I am all about the issues, but in reality personality is every thing to them. Its how moderates like Dean achieve respect and admiration from the farthest left of the party, how long time liberals like John Kerry become regarded as bush lite. I myself am far to the left but I am also a yellow dog dem and try to see the good in all members of the party, ps Zomby I really liked your thread on RFK. Personality and Tone are everything to some people whether they'll admit it or not and I personally think thats the wrong way to go, sure the guy can talk a good talk but can he deliever on the issues.

8. its nauseating, I am sorry for what your future senator was called
I'd kill to have a man like that represent me in the US Senate here in Virginia. Ok I wouldnt kill but lets just say I'd love to have someone like Barak Obama as senator compared to what I got here. As I said above, personality and tone are everything to some people who claim to be about issues. Its why a conservative dem like Bobby Bird or a moderate like Dean is so admired by the party's far left, I am not dissing either of those two guys but my point is that despite their tone they are in fact more moderate than John Kerry who despite his moderate attiude is a liberal at heart and has the record to show it. All about personality and tone.

9. Thanks for the cheering up
I was only half sarcastic about being a glutton for punishment. It's just frustrating to have people jump down your throat for defending the future Senator. Personality and Tone, you are so right. I have a feeling it's going to be an interesting week at DU.

11. no problem
You guys will be lucky to have him and you have a fine senator as is in Dick Durbin. I'd love to trade Warner and Allen for those two but that wont happen heh. Thanks, I am glad someone agrees with me on the personality and tone philo, its quite true I believe. People act like hes a sell out, we'd be lucky to get a dem senator here in Virginia and people get upset because Obama didnt get all up in Russert's face and call Bush a crook, yet I bet Obama will become a great senator with a great record, and he may be president one of these days.

14. Sometimes, DU is nothing short of amazing
And that thread is one of them. I felt like I was back in middle school; the whining and moaning over a simple choice of words was pathetic. For Christ's sake, Barack Obama is impressive as Hell, and these fools make him out to be Jess Helms because he didn't call Bush a chimpanzee baby-killer.

16. I told you all tone and personality mean everything to some
Rowdy, I know you like I am from a strong republican state, we'd be lucky as is to get a democrat elected senator here heh, we'd be being blessed by christ himself if we got a guy or woman like Obama for senator.

20. I'm stuck with Thad Cochran and Trent Lott....
Which is about as bad as it gets. What I wouldn't give to have a senator like Barack Obama...

kid aka John Warner and George Allen. I know what you mean, these two clowns are awful, I'd be happy if I got a dem like John Breaux even!, thats how much I want a democrat.

18. well silence is never good
If you speak up and speak for reason rather than lets crucify the guy because he's not saying what we want him to say and we are the only ones he should listen to, if you speak up to that nonsense, youre a good person, you had every right to be furious at that, Obama even said he would have voted against IWR and that the war was driven by idealogy, I dare everyone here who expects the world of our candiates to try to become a politican themselves, sure its easy to criticize but lets see you at the stump and lets see you win.
