Just heard Joan Baez and Mercedes Sosa sing Gracias A La Vida. Incredibly moving, and I don't even know what they're saying.

I have a viscerally negative reaction to Joan Baez. Her songs in that film are almost as irritating to me as fingernails on a chalkboard. But I'm not familiar with most of her work, keep in mind.

Years ago I saw the Rolling Thunder Review (with Dylan, Baez, Judy Collins, Ginsberg, the Band, etc.) in a hockey stadium in upstate New York. The acoustics were awful, but her acapella sounded great. The song I mentioned above is some sort of protest song and her voice contrasts incredibly with Mercedes Sosa to create a sort of ethereal sound.
